Honestly, Weeden surpassed even my most pessimistic expectations today. His stint against Washington was encouraging. Ten points in two drives was a solid return, he was accurate, got the ball out quick and didn't try to do too much. Today he couldn't hit the backside of a barn, it was shocking. He stared down his receivers, and just made poor decisions all day.
With all that said, the cowboys were within one score until the 4th quarter. The defense played well until the very end and really kept us in the game against a strong opponent. If Crawford and McClain are not injured long term I am still optimistic we will have a successful season. I think even if Weeden plays versus Jax we will win that game as their defense isn't nearly as strong as Arizona's. I think Weeden will play better and I think more importantly, Murray will be more successful rushing on first down then he was today. After that we have the bye and then hopefully Romo will be in good enough condition to carry on.
While this was a terrible performance by the team, I was much more upset by the loss against an inferior Washington team. This loss was down to poor execution, which can happen. Nobody plays lights out every week. The Washington game was lost purely because of rank stupidity by the coaching staff and Romo. That's unacceptable.
