The same way every team does every season for every opponent.

Why do you fear the Eagles?

Actually, I didn't read him as saying that he "feared" the Eagles. I read him as being concerned about a team that put 44 points on the board against you the last time they met. It doesn't have to be the Eagles ...it could have been any team that put that much on trhe board against any defense that would warrant concern.

I don't think any coach would play the same defense against such a team and expect different results.

BTW ...I fear all teams in the NFC!

You may be talking about Dan Klecko ...he was initally acquired last year with the purpose of playing both Defensive Tackle and some fullback. Last year we determined that he couldn't play full back, so he's competing for DT this year.

When you place that much emphasis on a single player who, according to our 2009 schedule, stands well in the tight end shadows of Tony Gonzalez (Week 7), Chris Cooley (Weeks 11 & 16), Zach Miller (Week 12), Antonio Gates (Week 14), Tony Scheffler (Week 4), John Carlson (Week 8), etc., I do not apologize for sensing misplaced trepidation.

Keep celebrating that 'hard fought' December victory which rivaled in intensity as the matchup which preceded it last September. Take heart that your words may even cast shivers up the spines of those who may find Celek intimidating, but you will not find that sense of dread within me.

"Any team". What a joke.

November 8th can't get here fast enough can it, Phoenix-Talon? ;) Be certain to maintain your posting track record should the mighty Eagles lose at home. Very few will miss you during your eight week absence immediately afterwards. :)

leave the big man alone

to be drafted as an "athlete" out of college at his size is an accomplishment in and of itself.

and I think his dad was a heck of a player in the league in his day, if I am not mistaken.

The Ingram guy they drafted from florida has a chance to be a stud. I'm sorry I admit, I fear the Birds this year. Please let me be wrong..

Celek's actually a really good player. Eagles are going to be tough this year, no doubt about it. They improved their offense and had a really good draft. Only questions they've got surround the dropoff from their all-world DC being gone and concerns about the health of Westbrook.

Oh, I do not fear Brent Celek, I'm saying that Dallas should not look at his season stats alone and forget his 10 catch , 2 TD performance in the NFC championship.

Don't be caught off guard. I hope he's more like Miles Austin than Jason Witten, but watch out.

Wow. The guy has one really good game against a really poor pass defense and all the sudden he's comparable to Jason Witten?

Wow.

G-Men fans were raving about Kevin Boss coming into the 2008 season and he had a decent year (33 catches, 384 yards, 6 TDs). Most of the TE's in the league have a long way to go to be on Witten's level.

The Eagles are always 'tough' for Dallas to beat and I can give them respect, but I hardly fear them as a Cowboys fan. Andy Reid is an overrated head coach that is only still coaching in this league because of Jim Johnson and the fact that Johnson doesn't want to be a head coach. Whenever there's been issues with the Eagles during Reid's tenure it's always been problems with the offense, usually from it being a one-dimensional passing offense. The past few years it's been a team whose passing game has been up-and-down and lived off of Westbrook who provides a huge mismatch for defenses. That and McNabb was benched in the second half of the season and the only reason why he's around is that Kevin Kolb looked so bad that nobody thinks he's ready to play in the league.

So now you've got an Eagles team whose star player in Westbrook may not be healthy and Jim Johnson whose future in the league is in doubt with his unfortunate bout with cancer.

Would I bet on Andy Reid to keep the ship on the right track? Probably not. I'm not saying that the Eagles will suck in 2009, but if they are pretty good I believe it will be due to Westbrook staying healthy and Jim Johnson getting back into coaching the defense (or maybe they have so wiz kid defensive assistant).

The Eagles are like a bad penny....they always turn up.

For years they have been a team who's sum is greater than the parts. We're the opposite.

They've had our number since the start of the decade. Jim Johnson simply has our number.....

I rewatched both our games with them. The first game was looking like a blowout in our favor....but we committed (well, Romo committed) two turnovers in quick succession that got them back in the game. Penalties killed us that game too.

The second game was a comedy of errors. Turnovers, penalties....the defense wasn't too terrible. They were put in numerous terrible positions.

The Eagles have made nice additions offensively. Losing Jim Johnson (I honestly hate to see him go through cancer) and Brian Dawkins really hurts them.

I don't think they're any better than we are. Our division is really at a toss up right now.

:clap2:

At some point their window is going to close, and they're going to be sick that Reid never committed to a running game.

I think they'll be very good again this year, but at some point soon the expiration date on Reid and McFlabb is going to be up. They've both been there a long time now.
