We understand the rules.... but there was a replay that showed him off of the ground. They only showed after the ref made the call.

If it was after the replay ruling nothing can be done about it. What I saw and the ref saw along with the head of officiating in NY was inconclusive which means they have to stay with the call that was made on the field. That's the rule!
