Game Day ***Cowboys vs Packers post game thread***

It is only one game. We will lose next week to a similar game plan, most likely.
We scored 28 points and had a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter.
We lost a game in which Rodgers completed only 14 passes on 20 attempts for 224 yards through 4 quarters and overtime, but they rushed for over 200 yards.

Again, it’s only one game, but this defense is not elite. They couldn’t stop the run with both big DTs in the game and both safeties committed to it, and therefore the pass defense was weak on play action. I don’t blame McCarthy for going for it on that final 4th down. That holding penalty against McGreggor was a tough one.

Expect to see a Tom of Davin Cook next week.

The reffing decisions were really bad but Dallas shouldn't have had the game in a position where those calls mattered.

Green Bay is a poor team that didn't play particularly well and Dallas still found a way to lose. Lots of people can be blamed for this one and virtually any one of them doing a better job (inside defenders, Dak, Kellen, MM) would have turned the game into a win.

I generally just get the impression that Dallas is always going to crap their collective diaper in a pressure game. I'm sure that they will win a bunch more and make the playoffs but I just don't see them performing well there. Too many mistake prone people in the organization. The whole team lacks discipline and ultimately, its Jerry's influence. Its been like this for 25 years.

It's not even that. The Cowboys need receivers who can actually run good routes, and have some semblance of attention to detail. Gallup is an awful route runner. He literally rounds every cut that he makes. Lamb can't seem to remember his responsibilities on routes (like crossing the face of safeties). Tolbert doesn't even understand how to line up properly. It makes me wonder what the hell Robert Prince is doing with these guys.

It seems fitting that the Cowboys penalties were their undoing in overtime. That holding call was ticky tack.

1. Rodgers took advantage of Bland and Joseph as we should have expected. That's what he does. 2. The pass rush disappeared in the second half. They never really hit Rodgers much in the 4th qtr or overtime.

The defense needs to step up in games like this to prove they are an elite defense. But again, they gave up way too many rushing yards. For life of me, try something different. Activate Cox and let him play. See if anything improves.

I don't really have an issue with McCarthy going for it in overtime. I figured if Rodgers got the ball back he would have gotten the TD too. Try to win the game without allowing Rodgers a chance to beat them. I would have had a quick pass of some kind instead of having Dak sit in the pocket. Dak needs to sense the pressure and move sooner. Maybe they should roll the pocket a little for him.

Looking at this team now, I think they will lose next week in Minnesota. The Vikings have good receivers. Bland and Joseph are going to get abused. The one thing about Joseph is he can stay with receivers, but he doesn't look for the ball. His inexperience shows. Rodgers clearly targeted the two backups.

We lost the 14 point lead in the fourth quarter because this defense is soft and cannot stop the run….period!
In 4 quarters plus overtime, Rodgers only threw the ball 20 times with 14 total completions. That tells you all you need to know about this defense. We couldn’t stop a 75 yard drive with a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter, and it wasn’t Rodgers picking us apart as in the past.
