Cowboys Vs Panthers Week 1 Breakdown!

Panthers fans are being extremely arrogant and really downplaying our defense and receivers in their forum. One went so far as to hope they inflict a career-ending injury to Zeke. It's been really rough being a Charlottean Cowboys fan this offseason. There is so much hate here.

Which is why I cannot wait to shut them up.

I hope we win of course but i highly doubt it as your Offense woes especially will show there face early in the game.Zeke will get some yards but i have no idea how the heck were going to move the ball when Zeke is Shut down. Our defense will do there best and have some plays but in the end our new reality say's hello and not in a nice way......

They are extremely worried about their oline and they should be.

I talked to a Panther fan the other day that was glad that they atleast had Kalil playing and now that’s not going to happen. That is the biggest advantage we have in the game in my opinion.

If we can’t exploit their horrible offensive line and get sacks and create some turnovers then we will probably lose the game.

Cam has had accuracy issues and if we can get them in some 3rd and longs then he will have a hard time hitting down the field most of the time. Cam still has a rocket for an arm and can break 50 yard runs so we will have to keep him in the pocket.

Their defense should have no problem containing our offense. Even with Davis out their front 7 is outstanding. With that said, their secondary is young and the weak spot of the unit. They will use seven in the box and occasionally bring in an eighth and will surely send an extra guy at dak atleast 30 percent of the time. Their d creates turnovers and sacks so ball security is the key as always.

Ultimately they are going to try and scheme their way around their deficiencies on the oline. It’s going to come down to coaching and frankly Ron Rivera and his staff are in another league than what we have in my opinion.

Let’s hope dak and this offense can surprise us and pop off some plays down the field and zeke can wear them down. I’m still fairly confident in our oline and running game. Let’s pound the rock and watch them start to wear down in the 2nd half.

Let’s Go!!!!!

The offense has not really played all preseason and the oline has been injured and is missing an important piece. Our wide receivers are crap and are going against a good defense. I feel bad for Dak. This could be a rough game
It could be but we still have a top 10 O line without Frederick and should be able to run the ball successfully a la 2016. According to most, Dez was trash, Witten was worthless and we would have made the playoffs if Zeke didn’t get suspended so wouldn’t it seem we upgraded even if minimally?

For the record, I’m somewhat playing devils advocate. I meant what I said, I think our D will win the game due to their injuries but although I’m not sold on our offense overall, I think we should still be able to run the ball with good results behind this line.

I liked OP write up . As some mentioned , it’s all about last years stats. Understandable since there are none for this season.

The Panthers have a couple of other things to consider. They've been in the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 years.. 11-5 last season. 3 losses to divisional rival Saints. Winning and playoffs ARE expected..

The most exciting thing , we feel, is we FINALLY , have a new offensive coordinator . Norv Turner.. I don't expect that to be special for anyone but Panther Fans.. Mike Shula was THE WORST NFL OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR , and he's gone. We still went to the playoffs in spite of him. ( Cam ) .. Oh, we don't think Norv is the best thing since sliced bread or Lincoln Riley.. but when you've lived with the worst for sooooo long,, it's got to be better..

Like the OP mentioned,, our OLINE is not healthy ( or good probably ),, if our left AND right tackles can't stim the onslaught,, might be a long day..

We are looking for more out of Christian McCaffery. and without a star ( not like the one you proudly have in the middle of the field ) no star wide receiver, we think we're going to have some break out seasons from some youngsters,,

We thing we're weak in the defensive backfield. If Dak has a week to pass.. we'll pay for it dearly. Our front 7 MUST be the backbone of our defense.

I truly hope the new rules don't crush or ruin either team.. I saw us get two roughing the passer calls go against us that I still can't figure out why a flag was thrown.. it is what it is.

Stay healthy my friends.. See ya Sunday

This will be a good game and can go either way.
We are a good road team, so that takes away some of the HFA they have.

If we can contain Newton, get after him a bit, can be key. I don't fear their offense if we can contain him.
Not sure what the Panthers D will be like this year, as I don't think they are strong as they once were.
But I have no idea what they did to improve on either side of the ball, but same goes, I don't know what they lost on each side either. Other than their OL has issues.

Our key as I said, contain Newton, get after him, get him out of his game. Then on offense, take what they give us, Dak needs to be smart with the ball. OL holds up, and Zeke is effective we should move the ball.
Here we go my friends Season is about to Kick Off ! Lets take a look at the week 1 matchup:

Cowboys Lead the Overall Series 9-4 But have been beaten both times they met in the playoffs and the Boys got smashed the last time they met in 2015 @ Home 33-14 where Luke Keuchly dominated.

Panthers also get back Olsen - 2016 Stats - 80 REC 1073 Yards 3 TD's

Cowboys are gonna have to bring it at Receiver this will be a trend for sure all year--
Panthers have a solid core and they get back Olsen! Cam is comfortable with Funchess, Olsen, and McCaffrey now they add DJ Moore who was on the Cowboys radar they could have scary unit !

Rookies To Watch For:
Pre-Season Stats
Gallup - 4 REC - 75 Yards - 1TD
Dj Moore - 4 REC 75 Yards - 0 TD

---------------------------------------------------------------

I am sure there will be players added before Sunday on both sides !

IMO this game is going to be a hard hitting close game and the trenches are gonna be a war on both sides. Our receiving Corp will need to get open fast because the Panthers bring the heat from multiple positions - i expect Zeke to get some screens and that combined with austin hopefully give the Panthers D pause with all the speed options we possess.

Very interested to see how the Boys work in Rico or if they do !

On D our Revamped Secondary looks pretty good and i am confident we are headed in the right direction: Both Teams are not exactly shining at Safety so that is concern on both sides. With out talent at Linebacker ( hopefully LVE plays ) Smith is back and has been a beast we should be good against the run. They are missing Davis which is a plus for us him and Keuchly together is a dynamic duo for sure.

Cowboys rested a lot of players during pre-season so it will be interesting to see if there is a hangover week one versus a very good D!

But looking at all of this it is scary how similar these teams actually are !

To early for a score prediction yet But wanted to share my thoughts what say you !
Great effort on your write up Jinnx my congrats
as noted Im looking for their oline problems to be to our addvantage
but I in turn worry about our oline. luckly their problems are greater then ours
Marinelli is going to blitz now that he has a real weapon JSmith

Looks like the reports are saying only first string Center (Khalil) and RG (Trai Turner) are starting. They're weak around the edges, which coincidentally will line up across from Lawrence and presumably Gregory. This game will be decided up front. If the Panthers think these guys are gonna block like Williams/Khalil and that they can just chip guys on our DL with those tight ends, it could be a very long day for Cam.

Great post thanks for your input ! Good luck this season

Poe and Short concern me the most. Connor has struggled against power and Looney isn't Fredbeard. If they push the line of scrimmage and let Kuechly get going downhill, could be a long day for Zeke. Poe got 4 tackles and a sack last year in ATL when Frederick was playing. Hopefully the new look passing game can make enough plays to keep the chains moving.

That’s my concern also they ha e a very talented D-Line - it will be interesting to see if Poe has anything left

Thanks waving monkey I really think that is our advantage also , we have to capitalize on that - our d- line needs to bring it this week

I love opening on the road. Pressure is 100% on the Panthers to hold serve—as no one expects Dallas to win. Both teams will be tentative and have some rust to knock off, and I think that will affect the passing games the most and will put the onus on the ground games to move the ball (advantage Zeke and less depleted Dallas OL)

If we lose— fine. We were supposed to. But if we come out with an upset— we can head home with some early momentum.

Dallas 27
Panthers 17

I think it'll be tough to get wide with Zeke because of Kuechly's sideline to sideline. But they'll need to control those DTs if they want to run up the middle. Hopefully they can get Zeke in space with some checkdowns. They've ran screens in PS but Kuechly can sniff those out pretty well.

battle of the defense. I think they will stuff our offense and we have to hope we can stop bighead newton.

Our Offense will look like the "Keystone" cops.....just like last season our Defense will not be able to hold firm forever and come the late 3rd quarter the Panthers will start putting the game away .....Expect ANEMIC results from the offense heck they couldn't score with Witten and Dez what are we expecting from them in this game....a Forum Miracle i guess.....ya gl waving monkey and Co. and you better start filling your bag of excuses as i Expect Mr. Fredrick to have company soon....excuse reason no 1 lol

Yep. I'm just down I-85 and it's rough.
