I didn’t like the 2 short passes to start a drive. Especially when their best corner is hurt.

I don't understand why McCarthy will never fake horizontal throws and have the receiver go deep while the defenders are running toward the other end zone.

They will either get beat bad or be forced to tackle/hold to avoid getting burned.

You do that once or twice and defense will sit on their heels every horizontal throw.
