It really makes no sense playing a QB the entire game that you’re going to end up cutting. We should be giving Cooper Rush the work, he needs all the reps he can get, but we’re too afraid to get anyone hurt.

This game will be the most wasted preseason game in Cowboys history as we throw away a whole game's worth of snaps to a guy we have already made the decision to cut. This is one of those unique advantages Jerry brings since he can't be fired.

Every snap, even in the preseason, is highly valuable. To waste them on Grier after informing him he will no longer be with the team is ridiculous.

These should be going to Rush, or are we so scared of injuries that even the back up is bubble-wrapped?
Pretty sure this is MM's decision. The Joneses have talked about their conversations with MM explaining the reasoning for doing so.

Yeah, absolutely could. But I don’t think so. For other obvious reasons.
Like they want the offense to be ran as designed so the other offensive players can play within the system they have been practicing with all offseason as opposed to anarchy?

Be interesting to see Trey Lance in action. Kid has a gifted arm if he can just figure out the rest of his game. Sitting wouldn't be a bad thing for him.

This is his third season, so sitting isn’t going to do him any good, he’s been sitting around a lot rehabbing injuries. For him to improve he’s going to need to play. He needs game experience. We’ll probably come up with a package or two to get him on the field this season.

I have watched exactly zero live preseason snaps this year and tonight will be no different...worse and worse and worse product, and now starting a qb you are going to cut tomorrow is even worse.

2 weeks from tomorrow can't come soon enough

Not being televised live here, and I doubt I'll watch a replay tomorrow of a practice game where most of the players will get cut.

I just hope the kicker has a good night.
Yeah, not showing the game here either. NFLN replaying it at midnight CST. I'm going to record the replay, and maybe watch some of it tomorrow. Depends how I feel. LOL

Unless the starters gets some play in this game, I'm out. I rather watch my grass grow.
.
The boys better be ready for sept.10 vs NYG.

He can't just suit up and play in an offense he has no familiarity with.
Amateur!!! A Pro would be able to do it just by telling them run right, run left, in case of pass, read defense and go to the open man....

I don't think they believe Rush can improve who he is much, so they are giving Grier the opportunity to showcase himself to other teams. Don't think it's wasted because there are players on the bubble and other players who do need reps. We have a few backup spots to sort out as well (running back, tight end, offensive line).

Who is going to be our No. 2 back? Right now, it appears to be Dowdle's job. Will that be cemented tonight?

Schoonmaker needs reps, although he'll get the chance curding the season to show whether he deserves more snaps.

Hard to say who the game-day backups on the line will be. Farniok is likely one since he plays center. Does Richards take the swing tackle spot, although we've only seen him at left tackle and left guard? Does Edoga get that one? Do we carry a guard like Ball or Bass instead and kick the starting guards out to tackle if there is an injury?
