Another stupid rule the NFL has.
If 1 foot steps out and you re-establish yourself it shouldn’t be a penalty.

I can’t see the competitive advantage doing this gives you.

I have issues with a number of rules but that is not one of them. Plus it is one thing to get forced out of bounds. It is another thing entirely when you are not aware how close you are to a team’s bench.
