I like the signing for depth, but I feel this basically closes the door on any possibility of drafting Zeke, which I think is a shame.

It's looking strongly like QB or Bosa at this point.

I think they will draft Bosa and move Lawrence back to the weakside again.

Don't know how much is guaranteed yet if any. If none or little then he's expendable.

#4 pick thats what is wrong. No thanks we have been burnt by CB's before.

is there a position we've NOT been burned by that will guarantee positive results no one will complain about for our pick this year?

didn't think so.

If we don't end up needing the money, he's in a tough spot. We can hang onto him through the draft and until the starting positions league-wide are pretty much filled. It's in our interest to do so, in case somebody gets hurt somewhere along the way, too. We probably would want to spread the cap hit out over two years, too.

He's really over the barrel with Claiborne and Robinson on board. Everybody thinks he's got leverage on us, but he really doesn't have anything at all. The market is going to tell him what he's worth now, and it's a lot less than what we're scheduled to pay. He'd be stupid not to just redo his deal and stay here. If he does, we let Claiborne walk next year, keep Carr and Robinson and Scandrick, and backfill the young CB spot in the draft either this season or next. Probably next.

If he doesn't, we take the CB a year early, and cut him loose.

I agree with this, you would have to think Carr and his representation have had these discussions many times already. He went thru this last year when he had all the leverage. Up until this signing (When it gets done) - he has still held the leverage. But now that changes. Yes, if we cut him he will get picked up quickly by another team - but for considerably less.
It will just be about if he's asked to restructure, how much less, and how comfortable is he staying in Dallas.
Brandon Carr by all accounts is a great person who does many great things - off the field.
But he got his big chunk of money last year when he would not renegotiate, signing Robinson helps level the tables.

I like the Robinson move.

Similar player to Carr, drastically reduced pay

No he wasn't. People get that confused. He was considered by the Cowboys to be the best cb in the draft grade wise since Deion. Not the same thing.

Thanks for the clarification. For a minute there I thought he didn't live up to his billing.

Today definitely helps fill some helps... Not all of them, but it helps.

Now will the other "shoe" fall and do the Cowboys put the pressure on Carr to re-negotiate his contract?

I hope they can find a way to keep Carr. I know he hasn't been the most productive, but he stays healthy...which this team really seems to have problems staying healthy.

Most player comparisons are conflations. The comparison in this case was of relative position. It clearly follows that Claiborne was graded less than Sanders.

Please. The team knew full well that putting Deion's name out there would invite conflation. Yes, they said he was the best since Deion, but the intended effect was to suggest he was the next Deion.

The team will not go into the season with Claiborne making 3.5 million as the #4 CB. If Robinson is signed, Carr is done in Dallas.

You have any idea who the quote is even from? Grandstanding intent is fun I guess.

How does Robinson go all this time and now at the most crucial time in his career as far as earning $$$$$, he suddenly has "agent issues"?
