I get a front office wanting to make sure a coach has some say in the draft room. But when Quinn was hired Sturm had an article on the Falcons and their fall from their SB grace. It pointed that Quinn had more say in the draft and well, his drafts weren't that good. Hence the fall of the Falcons, especially defensively, after missing on a lot of defensive draft picks. Their defense towards the end of his HC career there was awful. Hell, our comeback was the nail in his coffin.
And here, outside of Parsons landing to them in the 1st, thanks in large part to the opt out, they had a lot of straight up whiffs. Wright was unplayable. Cox was quickly cut-and we needed LBers.
Kelvin Joseph was a red flag and was quickly traded for another CB who couldn't see the field. TBD on Golston, but he seems to be just depth.
Quinn was super high on Sam Williams, who has been more potential than substance. Bone headed player at times too.
Who knows, maybe the scouts were also over optimistic on some of theses guys, focusing more on the strengths than weaknesses. There will be disappointing picks or busts. But for a team that solely relies on the draft for talent, missing out on handful of players taken in round 3-4 hurt.
