Since it's a meaningless game, the starters would probably play maybe a qtr, then all the backups on defense can get more acclimated with the new 4-3 scheme.

plus it gives us a chance to look at some udfa's and young guys like coale who were injured last year.

PHOENIX _ The Cowboys are one of the teams under consideration to open the pre-season in the Hall of Fame Game.

A decision on the two teams that will play in Canton on Aug. 4 is expected this week at the NFL Meetings. The Cowboys would welcome the chance to schedule the additional pre-season game _ bumping their total to five _ to aid in their transition to a 4-3 defense under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Would be nice payback for not taking legal action against the League for the bogus 5M cap penalty.

What? He was never all that to begin with. The expectations of Phillips far outreached the reality.

I think the dislike of Martellus Bennett far outweighed the actual promise that John Phillips showed.

I'd imagine the 09 Saints game romanticized Phillips in a lot of fans minds. He had solid production and that was such a big win at the time.

I don't mind it what so ever, you get in camp earlier than the other teams and with the extra pre season game you get to see the young guys getting the playing time as they try to earn a spot on the roster. You can save the vets but young guys need the snaps.

After screwing him out of cap money and hurting his team.and not giving him another Super Bowl. Mara and Goodell my throw Jerry a bone here and let his team play in this pre-season game that means nothing. really sad.
