bad night? if he didn't have like a zit on his foot that he didnt notice and just needs to pop it, fine I agree, but there has to be some logical reason he missed 4 in a row and then a reason why no one should worry about his confidence being shaken going forward. like yesterday, it is too late in a game. its not like you can put a backup in there and that is something no one ever carries in a game because it obviously would take up an extra roster spot we cannot afford on a backup kicker.

Did you see Mahr's face when McCarthy went for it on 4th down instead of going for the field goal? He looked like he said rats, Hahaha, he looked like Charlie Brown getting rejected by the girl that didn't want to be his friend. Poor guy.

I would say it too and even bring in a kicker just to get Maher to tighten up

Kicker aint like other positions, you mess up you automatically leave points off the board

missing 4 xp in a row isna fireable offense unless youre top 3 in your position for years

Maher has been good all season long. Everyone has a bad day. We will hang with him on Sunday.

I think we should just roll with Maher. Clearly this is a mental issue and brining in ‘competition’ isn’t going to help that. If you don’t trust him anymore then just bring someone in to replace him point blank. If you do, just carry on. He’s had a strong season and I think the best chance of this working out is hoping Maher gets his groove back next game and that this was a one off. I don’t see bringing in a new kicker at this stage as likely to bear good results.

He did not have a bad day. He had an absolute EPIC meltdown. Set the record for most consecutive missed PATs in the history of the game. We really need to take a look at other options right now.

So the message all year has been “resilience “ and the solution is to cut Maher after last night?!

No. Stand by your guy and live out your message. If he absolutely craters again in SF— THEN you may need to have some competition brought in— but right now, I believe you rally around him, weather the storm, and work his butt off in practice to identify and fix the issue and his confidence level back.
