Regardless of what most think Gin Jr. is a big time playmaker and anyone who saw him play and has common sense knows this. That being said, I believe if he is not there, cowboys trade down. Here our my two predictions for trade down:

1) Based on all the rumors and scout talk. Chargers trades up with Dallas and gets top safety or wideout they want. Dallas gets:

a) Jarret or Meachem at 30, plus Turner RB in trade up from chargers.

b) Cowboys get Turner, plus Spencer at pick 30 and Rice WR at 53.

This could change but alot depends on whats there when we pick.;)

The Chargers tendered Turner, which would give them a 1st and 3rd if someone wanted to sign him to an offer sheet. There are trade rumors that the Chargers would trade him for a pair of 2nd round picks. Why would they trade him and their 1st pick just to move up a few spots? They obviously think he is more valuable than that. Maybe they would trade Turner to Dallas or some other team to move up, but I doubt they would also throw in their own first round pick.

If Dallas can trade down and pick up Ginn later than the #22 pick, that would be okay.

Actually Ginn is the smart pick. He is built along the same lines are Glenn. so given a year or two under Glenn he can learn alot. Also he can make an impact now because of his return game. So I feel he is the perfect player to pick. He contributes now and can learn for later.

I agree which is why I would be on board with Ginn. I think he can contribute right away and I think he could develop into the eventual replacement for Glenn over the next year or 2.

i agree I don't think Chargers would trade Turner to Dallas just to move up about 10 spots but if R. Nelson is still on the board they may...if the Cowboys give their second or third they may do the deal...

maybe:
Dallas trades # 22 and second rounder for Chargers first rounder and M. Turner-RB...then Dallas trades J. Jones for late second rounder to someone else...

picks:

Spencer (1)
Weddle (2)
trades for M. Turner
Just bored with nothing to do but find amusing trade scenarios today.

the ONLY reason i'd want ginn on this team is so we can call him "cold" ginn and listen to gene simmons sing when he's doing returns.

but it's always nice to hear what people think while they bag on what other people think. it makes the day fly on by.

I think it'd be exciting to have Ginn on the team. I'd enjoy watching him.

On the other hand, the Cowboys could draft a punt returner (likely a CB or WR) on Day 2 and pick among their top pure WR candidates on Day 1.

Again, although I like Ginn, if he turns out to be a contributing WR, Ginn would present the Cowboys with "the Terrance Newman problem."

Newman is a great punt returner, but he also so important otherwise that it is almost too risky to use him as a punt returner.

I could see that happening with Ginn. If he turns out to be the receiver that he should be as a 1st round pick, he'll be too valuable to gamble on punt returns.

agree.

many suggest that after pick 15 there is a dropoff in 1st round talent.

i think JJ will trade down if he can, regardless of who is available. equivalent talent can be found in the 2nd round.

Even in that case there would still be situations where having a guy like Ginn who can change the game with his return ability is worth taking the risk. Dallas did it with Deion and we do it with Newman. He may not return every kick or punt but late in the game where that 1 play could alter the entire game you put your best out there.

I also believe that we will trade out of the 22 spot and maybe with the Chargers depending on who is there, either a WR they want or a S they want.

Jerry is going to try and help Phillips make the defense better and that means either a CB or OLB. That will be our pick in the first. The talk about offense and WR are just smoke just like the last few years. Every year the experts predict a WR for us in the first or second round.

JMO, but Phillips will have a bit of a say in this draft but Ireland will have Jerry's ear the most.

I wouldn't mind getting Turner except the same problem exist with him as with Julius Jones. You are going to have to pay them big money after this year. If Dallas doesn't believe Julius is an elite back then they will have to believe that Turner is in order to justify paying him big money.

I won't be surprised if we trade Julius for the right offer to someone like Cleveland or Green Bay or just possibly New England since Maroney injury may be worst than we realize. But trading him for Turner doesn't make that much sense.

Remember also that Garrett and Phillips want more of a power running game which leads me to someone like Brian Leonard or Jackie Battle in the draft.

Yeah. I see what you are saying.

At the same time, if the Cowboys are willing to risk a valuable player on punt returns, they already have that guy in Newman. Newman is darn good.

I'd rather see the Cowboys have a guy who is more of a high quality punt return specialist who plays a backup role elsewhere on the team. But that's just me.

I think Ginn will turn out to be a big time playmaker both as a WR and a guy who can come in clutch situations as a return man. If we draft him I would expect he will be the main return specialist his rookie season.

wasn't there a report from one of the writers that Jerry and Ireland were cold on Ginn?

The best possible scenario is ......... we trade down with a team with a late 1st rounder.. lets say the chargers and we pick up an extra 3rd and 4th

1st. jarret... this guy is NOT going to be the 2nd coming of mike williams.. just because a guy is built the same and went to the same school doesnt mean hell be a bust too.. itll make the guy work even harder
2nd... best available CB... hopefully 1 of the big names slip
3rd... paul solaui
3rd.. manuel ramirez
4th... Zak DeOssie
4th... best available pass rusher..
5th.. probably will be traded to trade up for 1st of these guys
6th.. Jordan Palmer.. i dont know why i just want this guy.. and want him put away on our team and be worked with for 2 years..
6th.. probably also used to trade up..
7th.. probably used to trade up

so we end up with 7 guys... who are likely to end up on our team and maybe can contribute

I'll take San Diego's 2nd rounder and their number 1 next year. It seems fairly clear from reading everyone's post's that there is no one player that would create an immediate impact or has great value at #22. Unless someone slides, I would try to get as many 2008 picks as possible. At that point Phillips will know what he needs to get this team where he wants them and he'll have the leverage to move up and get those players.

Reports that any team is cold on Ginn would make sense to me. He should have stayed in school and learned to be a better WR
