Doomsday101 said:Pitt has done a very good job of taking former college QB with athletic ability and turning them into very good WR. I don't know if Dallas will take Smith in the draft but for those who have seen him play they know the guy clearly is very athletic and very hard to bring down when running with the ball.
JIMMYBUFFETT said:Exactly ! People act like this is some new thing . A. Randle El , H. Ward , and our own P. Crayton were all college QBs . Smith probably has as much natural talent as any of these guys , and would be a fine project for a 4th or 5th receiver . A 6th or 7th draft pick on him wouldn't hurt my feelings at all . The problem with Smith is that he doesn't want to be a WR and isn't good enough to play QB in the NFL .

ABQCOWBOY said:I guess my line of thinking on this would be, if we're looking at Smith, you'ed have to think we're also looking agt McNeal. That's not a bad think IMO. I really like McNeal at WR.
silverbear said:The Cowboys have indeed reportedly shown some interest in McNeal...
RCowboyFan said:He probably would be a good developmental guy, for down the road. His leadership qualities are a big question mark I guess from all that I read about him, which is big red flag, much like it should have been for Ryan Leaf.
But its about time Cowboys tried to find another developmental guy at QB, since either Romo is resigned this year or he leaves next year. I doubt Romo will re-sign for backup type of money, unless he doesn't find anyone paying him more than dallas and/or doesn't give him an opportunity to compete for starting job.
silverbear said:I have a hunch that the Cowboys might be thinking about making a run at either Matt Schaub or Chris Simms next offseason, both of whom are due to be unrestricted free agents...
Eddie said:If we're interested in a WR, why not draft a WR? Not some rehashed QB turned WR.
I don't get it.
NFL Draft Countdown said:Brad Smith
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 213 | 40-Time: 4.46
Official Bio
Strengths:
Outstanding natural athlete...A terror to defend and a threat to run at any time...Electric and a gamebreaker...Has a pretty good arm...Very instinctive runner...Incredibly productive...Smart and a very mature young man...A team leader with top intangibles...Experienced as a four-year starter...A gamer who comes up big in the clutch...Has some untapped upside at a different position.
Weaknesses:
Extremely inconsistent as a passer...Stares down his targets...Lacks timing and touch on his passes...Not very accurate...Struggles to read defenses and will have to adjust to a pro style offense...Does not have the type of elite speed you'd tend to think...Average size for a QB...Raw and a developmental prospect.
Notes:
One of the most prolific run / pass threats in college football history...A much better athlete than quarterback who will almost certainly have to change positions at the next level with wide receiver or running back as possibilities.

Leaf's biggest problem wasn't his lack of leadership, it was his immaturity, lack of work ethic, and short fuse. Lack of leadership didn't help, but there are QBs who have been moderately successful without being great leaders. He just thought he was the best thing going.RCowboyFan said:He probably would be a good developmental guy, for down the road.
