that is the way I would go right now.

If he is not interested, then a hard look at the BOise State coach.

Then maybe a really aggressive 3-4 DC and promote him; or a really hot OC and promote him.

Its a moot point for this year since it seems to be clear that BP is coming back.

I probably should make a slight correction.
As Ice pointed out, Cowher MIGHT not be all that fired up about getting a second or third trophy- one might have made him content. My selection of Cowher is predicated on him being MORE hungry to get another one. If that is wrong then strike the Chin and bring in Fisher. ALl other parts I hold with.

the whole parcells thing may have me jaded to coaches like phillips, cowher and so forth - i agree he's a good solid coach, just not my preferred direction. at least he *knows* he wants a year off and didn't pander about with it.

My thoughts. Cowher only knows one thing since he's a teenager and that's football. Plus, HUNGER is way overrated when we could be talking about 7-8 million a year. Could you, at the age of 49-50, turn down a 5 year 40 million dollar package to do something you're really good at and absolutely love more than anything? People buy into this family thing WAY too much. He coached all through his childrens lives and now that all 3 are all but gone he wants to quit now? No that was an out from 15 years of coaching for bottom basement prices. He want to get PAID now and he deserves it.

COWHER IN 08!!!!!!!!!!!

Add Emmitt as RB coach, Dat Nguyen at LB coach, and Darren Woodson as DB coach.

Biggems, I would rather have Norv at OC, but if he is not available then Chan.
Crennel I think gets another year after 07 unless he really stinks it up. Lebeau or maybe Singletary.
The rest would be good.
Dat as LB
WOody as DB
As was suggested.

So in other words,we're going to wait for Cowher.
If BP's coming back for 1 year (which he doesn't seem to thrilled about) We're just going to go thru the motions next year while we wait for BP's replacement.

Sounds like a wasted year to me.

I Hope thats not the case.
If he's not coming back in 08 lets make the move now.

Lame duck coaches (or any position for that matter) usually don't ever have success.

It's not as if we're going to throw our hands up in the air and say" Oh well, Bill is not coming back in 08. Let's go thru the motions!" It's really not as hopeless as everyone thinks in 1999, it was apparent that Dick Vermiel was going into his last season as the Rams head coach. They won the Super Bowl.

I hope your right ,but with BP not committing , doesn't seem he's excited about coaching this year.
