that is the way I would go right now.

If he is not interested, then a hard look at the BOise State coach.

Then maybe a really aggressive 3-4 DC and promote him; or a really hot OC and promote him.

Its a moot point for this year since it seems to be clear that BP is coming back.

the funny thing about this to me is that i guarantee you this time next year no one will be talking about boise state's coach (who, by the way, no one, myself included, even seems to know his name...yet you want him so bad). it'll be whoever won the big games next year that all you know it all's will want.

also, for all you guys who want him, or stoops, or caroll.....let steve spurrier serve as an example that good college coaches don't always make good pro ones.

and it's a BIG assumption on all your guys' part that cowher wants to coach again at all, let alone in dallas.

way too early for all this talk.

it is a big assumption, and that's why i view waiting a year to find a head coach is no less risky next year than this year despite what pretty names are on either list.

There should be more possibilities next year; that is the way things look right now, anyway.

and all that could change in a year and even if not, none of it is guaranteed.

if we have to wait, i hope we can get fisher. otherwise i'd have to think waiting was a waste of time.

Well, for one thing, the Boise Coach will have a chance to show whether or not he is a one year wonder. (I know I should try and find out his name, but eh..) I think there will be more good ones available next year then this year. LAST year would have been a good time to shop as well. These things usually go in cycles.

the boise coach put his manhood on the table a lot and it paid off. but i've not seen any gimmicky college programs do well in the nfl. i'd veiw wanting him to be the same as saying many 1-hit wonders of the 80's would grow to be superstars in the end.

"come on eileen". : )

sometimes all you get is your 15 minutes of fame, but since you're also looking for a "repeat" performance, that's not what you're doing, so i won't go there. : ) but i don't think the gimmicks he used to be OU would work in the NFL.

What's the big deal about Cowher? He's won exactly 1 SB in what? 18 years? I want more of a Belichek-type guy, or even a Vermille-type, that can build a great team and get them to the SB several times in a decade, preferably winning them.

If we choose from the college ranks, I have to say I'd like Urban Meyers, Les Miles or the guy from Bosie State. I'm o.k. w/ Wade Phillips or the DC from the Ravens and even a few others. But we must also get outstanding counterparts for OC and let them do their jobs.

The HC is supposed to be a good manager, no try to do everything himself...

i Watched that game- and while he did use some gimmicks- most of what I saw was a superbly coached team that had ALL the bases covered. Talent wise BOise had no business on the same field as Oklahoma- but they played them even up all way.

Let's see. Landry came in 1960 and won the '72 SB, then again in '78. So he won 2 and lost 3 in the span of 19 years. If you read my post I said "get them to the SB several times in a decade, preferably winning them". I think TL did just that. Would I prefer that they were 5-0 under Landry. You bet. But w/ Tom you always had a feeling you would get there. I didn't see those results from Cowher...
