It sure didn't look like neither when you were typing about Emmitt Smith and the Buccaneers remorse a little while ago.

And "older" isn't a valid criticism for Lamar Miller. The guy is only 24 years old. Devontae Booker, a RB expected to go in the second round is already 23.

In which case, I am very glad that it is not up to you. And Drake is almost 22 years old! An old man by your definition. You should want no part of him!

Oh great, we get to invest yet more resources again next year. This plan sounds worse all the time.

And Booker will be 24 in May.

Drake has a significant injury history and fumbles at a horrid rate. 1 in 43 carries I believe. Sounds like solid reasoning huh?

Of the current starting QBs in the league, how many were drafted as sure-fire franchise QBs, and how many have panned out? Some consensus solid QBs in the league - Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Wilson, Romo, Flacco -- weren't drafted as sure-fire franchise guys. A lot of the guys that were -- Gabbert, Cutler, Griffin, Bradford, A. Smith, Ryan, Tannehill -- have been underwhelming, if they're even on their original team. Other up and comers -- Carr, Dalton, Bridgewater -- weren't drafted in the early part of the 1st and had QBs picked ahead of them.

I'd say that that only sure-fire franchise guys who were drafted as such, and have panned out to some extent are the Mannings, Palmer, Cam, Stafford, Roethlisberger and Rivers. Too early to say on Bortles, Winston, Mariota, et al.

All that to say, grading QB prospects as a franchise guy is about as inexact of a science as there is. I'd still rather take the highest prospect we can in a year when we desperately need someone. A lot of "franchise" guys have flamed out, so I'd rather take the best of the bunch if you have a legitimate shot at them.

Great post!
