It’s not going to be shut yet for the same reason they keep losing in the early rounds, because the Cowboys have yet to really go for it. Most teams when they have a talented young core load up on great free agents and go all in for a 3-4 year window before hitting a wall.

The Cowboys have not done this so they lose to teams that have both the young core AND expensive FAs. However, it also means they are going to be right where they are “good enough to not quite be good enough” for several more years.
