The Cowboys entered the draft without a glaring need with a wide receiver. At least that's what they've said all along. But with Dez Bryant, there does appear to be too many guys for too few spots. Somebody has to go.
We know it's not Miles Austin. They said it's not Roy Williams. Where does Patrick Crayton fit? Kevin Ogletree? Sam Hurd?
"We'll see how it plays out," coach Wade Phillips said. "You can play four wide receivers. You don't have to play three. You can play four. That's my job. What I have to do is get the ball to the best players. That's what I'm going to do."
Four wide receivers? Where does that leave Jason Witten? Jerry Jones pointed to injuries during the season as a reason to keep as many good players as possible.
Maybe a trade market can develop. Say what you want about Patrick Crayton, but he is producitve and he does not come at a hefty price. There could be a market for him. His agent, Fred Lyles, said he plans on talking to the Cowboys on Friday.
"I'm not surprised with the direction of the Cowboys," Lyles said. "Patrick is a professional and accepts the decisions associated with the NFL business."
