That's what I really like about Quinn. He finds players strengths and puts them in positions to make plays.

You will need to prove that with hard links. Never seen anything with him above 270.

Calling your post suspect if you can't deliver evidence. I'll applaud you if you can prove 295, which you won't. Pure silliness.
That was his weight at the combine. He put on a lot of weight between year 1 and year 2.

Golston says he enters practice nearly 20-pounds heavier than his playing weight last season and took early snaps with both the edge rushers and interior defensive lineman. Even with the added weight, he appeared quick off the snap and was moving better than he ever did last season.

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/...ys he enters practice,he ever did last season.

Shall I post his combine measurements?

I await my applause.

He is by college career and physical size a hybrid. 6'5, 268+ pounds. Calling him such "ruins his career"?

How about trying to aim for more thoughtful posts rather than engaging the rage machine by default?
Average weight of a DT in the NFL is over 300.

We have done this before with guys recently like Tyrone Crawford or Wilber come to mind.

295 has NEVER been Chauncey Gholston's weight at the combine, nor since. You are only digging yourself a deeper hole to sleep in. A cold hole with no applause, and no Snickers bars.

Find an official source and prove it. You can't.

He is listed on the Cowboys web site as
DEFENSIVE END

Maybe, as already discussed he plays a bit of DT. He's not playing any reps as Edge at 295, LOL.

I like how you didn't quote me in your response. He put on 20 lbs over the weight you saw listed. You wanted proof of that and were given it. You apparently lack honor cause I don't see my applause.

Now apparently you want to move the goalposts. Boring.

We cannot link DMN articles here but there one called "Chauncey Golston's Arrow Is Pointing Up" from last fall that says:

Golston played defensive end as a rookie before sliding inside this season.

You can google it yourself since I cannot link it.

You quoted a player. To repeat: You quoted...a player as some conclusive proof, LOL. I don't care what players say about their weight or their supposed 4.05 40 times, or the MVPs they are destined to earn. The dude is 275 at most...probably more like the 268 he was listed at before.

There's not a single 4-3 Defensive end in the league listed 295, bro. Not one.

You gotta learn coach-speak, player-speak, media-speak. Catch you next time, hopefully on a higher mountain.

The article is using Golston himself as the source. And you didn't even read the article because the author describes the extra upper and lower body mass that was gained in the offseason. It was obvious to me when I saw him during TC.

And there have been plenty of SDE that big. Right off the top of my head Reggie White was 300 lbs. Red Bryant was that big. Tyeler Davison was that big. Given that the position has to anchor double teams from TE, extra size actually helps quite a bit.

Here's an article saying Golston plays more DT:

Having taken over for Chauncey Golston (who plays more defensive tackle) and the uncertain future of Dante Fowler on the team, Williams will go into next season as a heavy rotation.

https://atozsports.com/dallas/dallas-cowboys-3-players-whove-earned-larger-roles

Golston started playing inside and Williams started getting more edge snaps. That was the whole evolution and really makes me wonder what you see when you are watching the games. I had to look up these articles but it was obvious to me just from watching the games.

He only played 22 snaps that game too, 13 at end and 9 on the interior.
And, THIS is how he SHOULD be used. Start out as the SDE, then kick inside on passing downs. Unfortunately, he still has DLaw and his ridiculous contract in front of him.

Chris jones kicks outside a lot, hes used lie Gholston ie in and out i believe hes over 300...that off the top of my head bet i can find more..who cares anyway what up with tall the arguing over mundane stuff. Who cares where he plays and how much he weighs. this is another player like Gallimore then been written off by fans but coaches still see a future. Ill go with the coaches developing both. not all players step into the league and are ready, they need time to develop. they kept both over say Hill and Ridgeway which was surprising, so they must see something in them.

Dlaw has been great, man the clueless responses on his actual worth here is insane, he a lot better then fans give him credit for. money aside, which is done and fans need not put their nose in the business side, Tanks played great more then he hasnt. one of the best edge settings run defenders we have and his motor when healthy is very high..he is keyed on by the offensive game pans. i saw him tipping passes collapsing dl all year, now you think Gholstons being held back by tank LOL just WOW:huh::lmao2:

I’m sure we will ruin his career and shove him in at DT underweight and call him “hybrid”

We’ve done it before
Yes when he was drafted that was mentioned, the dreaded position flex. And was even mentioned like Tyrone Crawford on one of the local radio shows after he was drafted.
At least Quinn knows better to waste him like that, or I hope so anyway.
See where he fits, and keep him there.

After he took a paycut it doesn't make sense to me either. A lot of people struggle to change their minds even when presented with evidence to the contrary. They didn't like him then so they do not like him now.

Tank and his overaggressive play last year was one of the reason why teams were DESTROYING Dallas with outside runs. Too many games there were plays were he shoots so far up the filed that he gave runners clean paths outside the tackle. And, DE's with $26M Cap Hits should be doing more than being good run-stoppers, ESPECIALLY if you have an All-Pro Edge Rusher playing opposite you. But, I'M the clueless one...got it. Keeping him past his prime will end up just like the Zeke contract issue.

I was unimpressed with Golston most of last year, but I noticed he started to play better the last few games. Could he be the 2023 sleeper for the Cowboys?

It seemed like Chauncey had something click because at the end of the season (Playoffs included) he was playing one of the better DL on the team. DQ was using Golston as run stopping DE vs the 49ers opposite DLaw. I think you have to factor this guy into one of the quality rotation players on the DL.

Didn't make my initial projected roster last year, but was good enough when on the field most of the time, just didn't see much of it.

I actually think Golston is a good player. He has position flex and whenever he played I thought he was very stout against the run. He is the type of player you want on your roster for the right price. He hasn't necessarily lived up to his draft status, but he is far from a total miss.

If he played more I am almost certain he would make more splash plays.
