Crazy innovative idea that might work

Seeing Johnny football was in Jerry's suite tonight I was thinking of how it could work from a PR and X's and O's standpoint if Jerry takes him.

Then it hit me: a true dual QB system. Not the package wildcat that jets did with tebow.

Announce on draft night JFB will play 15-20 snaps a game to reduce wear and tear on Romo. It is the same play book because they have a very similar skill set. Both elude pressure well and Tony looks to throw where as JFB looks to run after getting out the pocket.

It would be a nightmare for defenses to defend both QBs in having to learn how to pressure both. It keeps controversy away by saying JFB is not a starter and with resources in Tony they still want him for 3 years. By letting both play it keeps media from starting drama of a supposed "divided locker room" especially bc Romo and Garrett are BFF and JFB would be Jerry's guy.

Thoughts?

No way JFB last till pick 16 so this is all a moot point................also, shuttling in different QBs never works. Many teams have tried it and they never win jack.

Like the old saying goes, if you got two QBs you really don't have one QB.

I should have prefaced it by saying I'm not a fan of JFB in his game or as a person but Jerry seems to love the kid even more than Dez in 2010.

This is just a thought of how to make the best of a bad situation if he's brought in.

I can just see the first time that Tony throws and INT and then later Manziel runs for a first down, the media would create HUGE amounts of controversy...it wouldn't matter than Romo later wins the game in some other fashion....if Manziel's name is on the cowboys #16 card, then it is the beginning of the end for everything that is Tony Romo....and the team will flounder miserably...just say no to JCFB

Thats not innovative. Its a recipe for disaster. Why waste a high rounder or even a 1st rounder on a running QB? If you draft a QB in the 1st round you should give him the starting position. Or have him come in if Romo gets injured.

Frankly its time to think about life after Romo. But not with JFB.

The results of your idea would remind me of what Tom Landry tried over 40 years ago. He created one of the most famous quarterback controversies in NFL history, when in 1971 he started alternating Craig Morton with Roger Staubach, where they alternated on each play. Finally Landry settled on Roger, and the Cowboys went on a 10-game winning streak that included the teams first ever Super Bowl victory.

My thought is that there's no chance the Cowboys draft Manziel so the point is moot.

Innovative? Maybe. Crazy. Yes. It won't work. QBs need reps. Splitting time wouldn't help Romo or Manziel. Taking 15-20 snaps away from Romo is very significant. The offense would struggle. Offenses also need one leader, which two signal callers provide. As to any controversy, there is always going to be controversy when it comes to Romo. The guy is judged harshly. That would get worse the moment Manziel is drafted and would certainly would not lessen if Manziel was getting playing time.
