The results of your idea would remind me of what Tom Landry tried over 40 years ago. He created one of the most famous quarterback controversies in NFL history, when in 1971 he started alternating Craig Morton with Roger Staubach, where they alternated on each play. Finally Landry settled on Roger, and the Cowboys went on a 10-game winning streak that included the teams first ever Super Bowl victory.

So it worked!

Would only work with something like a healthy Vick + healthy RG3/Newton. Read option right/left handed QBs. If you want to get crazy, you could try a center snap option on top of multiple read option to both sides of the field (4 backs in backfield i.e. a double barrel pistol shotgun formation). Something where the starter stays on the field.

That sounds awesome. I would love to see that.

Seeing Johnny football was in Jerry's suite tonight I was thinking of how it could work from a PR and X's and O's standpoint if Jerry takes him.

Then it hit me: a true dual QB system. Not the package wildcat that jets did with tebow.

Announce on draft night JFB will play 15-20 snaps a game to reduce wear and tear on Romo. It is the same play book because they have a very similar skill set. Both elude pressure well and Tony looks to throw where as JFB looks to run after getting out the pocket.

It would be a nightmare for defenses to defend both QBs in having to learn how to pressure both. It keeps controversy away by saying JFB is not a starter and with resources in Tony they still want him for 3 years. By letting both play it keeps media from starting drama of a supposed "divided locker room" especially bc Romo and Garrett are BFF and JFB would be Jerry's guy.

Thoughts?

LOL,,,, can you imagine how much worse Romo's day to day interaction with the media would become?! and that's saying something considering that it isn't a cakewalk now.

It didn't work. Every player on the team was pissed off about the situation. When Tom made the change (going with Roger) that's when it worked. The team came together and Morton was shipped off after sitting the bench for a while and going into the WFL for a stint, Dallas received a number 1 draft pick from the Giants for Morton and used the pick to draft..........Randy Manster White!

You have to remember the situation. Staubach was a late round draft pick. Morton was a 1st round #5 overall pick. After Merideth retired the Cowboys had 2 very highly rated QBs. They spent over 3 years fighting for the spot. Morton actually started every game in 1971 when we lost the SB against the Colts that our team clearly dominated.

Just because JFB was in JJ's suite, means absolutely nothing. Except for the media who needs to sell a piece of crap article, or for the JFB fans.
Or just for the posters for off season shenanigans......:D

I'm not opposed to drafting one of the high QB's and just rolling with them. This back thing with Romo really has me concerned. The boys are in a tough spot with that contract.

I should have prefaced it by saying I'm not a fan of JFB in his game or as a person but Jerry seems to love the kid even more than Dez in 2010.

This is just a thought of how to make the best of a bad situation if he's brought in.

There is nothing coming out from Cowboys insiders about Jerry loving Manziel.

There was 1 interview during the college season where someone asked Jerry about Manziel and he said "he's great". What else would he say?

When I heard Johnny was in Jerry's suite I took it to mean there is some affection there. It got me thinking they just might take him at 16. And I think there is a decent chance he falls to 16. That's probably what Jerry wants other teams to think, too. Well played by him I'd say.

I just don't see a connection between Jerry socializing with somebody that's popular with the Cowboys interest in that person.

Jerry likes to socialize with people like Lebron, etc.. Manziel fit's into that category.
