Since 1997 the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Detroit Lions are the only teams not to play in an NFC Championship Game. :banghead:

Wahoo! just when I start to get down on this franchise, you guys pull me right back!

In all seriousness that's a telling stat. When I first read it I was like no way there has to be more than 3 teams but I went through the whole NFC and it was true. I think there's 7 teams in the AFC who have never been to an AFC Championship game since 1997.

What that tells me is that there has been enormous parity in the NFC, but there are still a few dominant teams in the AFC who consistently get there, e.g. New England and Pittsburgh.

You're right and the fact that the Cowboys are only 1 of 3 teams not to make it to the NFC Championship game is sad imo!

Yeah, but it's not true.

No AFC Teams have either. :D

Stat likes this is even more proof to just how popular this team is. We've been a loser franchise the last 15 years yet look at the ratings from 2 weeks ago.

(Hey, I gotta look at the positive in all this mess! :D )

Yeah I know, just think if we had won more playoff games or even 1 SB in the last 15 years

And each of those teams leads the league in coaching changes during that time period with 6, I think.

Interesting addition to the hypothesis, but we have 5 since 1997.

Chan replaced Barry, then Dave, then Bill, then Wade, and now Jason. Unless you count Barry, but he was changed in 1994, he was 3 years entrenched in 1997.

It's even more depressing when you start naming off some of the teams that made it in that time period:

Vikings
Rams, the FREAKING RAMS!!
Cardinals
Panthers
Seahawks
Tampa

Oh come on, that Greatest Show on Turf team was awesome.

All those teams had stout defenses among tops in the league. Well except the Rams. They just ran a spread O.

I'm fairly certain the Rams had a top 10 defense the year they won the SB. Not sure where they ranked when they lost to the Pats.
