Crazy Witten stat

That's what I said when I heard it. I thought surely there was a package that didn't have tight ends, or a late snap in a game already won that he was subbed for.

But nope. He's been in every snap this season.

No, I don't doubt that he has been in on every snap, but I'm sure other players have as well, and not just on this team.

It's funny. A few weeks back there was talk as to whether or not Witten was a 1st ballot guy.

Not sure how you can leave the man out.

Nope, he's the only one per Babe Laufenberg.

Keep in mind that in blowouts, teams put their second teams in late, just like Dallas. Witten is the exception.

Apparently, it's known to Linehan now not to even try. Witten will scream at one of the tight ends to get off the field, and he just goes out there. Coaches have long given up on that.

Just isn't true.

Quite a few players with 100% participation. Mostly offensive linemen and quarterbacks. He is the only skill position non QB to play 100% of offensive downs.

Now you have me thinking. I heard Babe say it on the broadcast. Perhaps he meant skill positions.

Even then, generally QB is considered a skill position and there are QBs with 100 percent participation still.

These are all the guys listed as playing 100% of their teams offensive snaps. Mostly linemen(Martin, Frederick and Smith are among them), which isn't surprising. Russell Wilson, Drew Brees and Mathew Stafford are the only QBs to play 100% of their teams snaps. Jason Witten is the only non-QB skill-position player to play 100% of his teams offensive snaps.

OK, so it looks like Laufenberg was referring to players other than linemen and quarterbacks.

Still notable.

Absolutely has been an honor to watch him represent The Star and it will continue to be an honor all the way to the end of his career. The guy is just absolutely amazing.

Where is he lining up on D?

He does play 19.7% of the special teams snaps.

He leads all TEs in total snaps played. Here is the top ten:

So he's the only non-lineman/non-QB to play 100% of the snaps. Still impressive.

That's why it's funny to me when people act like he's finished and we need to replace him. The guy is Mr. Reliable.

Whether as a receiver or a blocker, he plays a huge role in what we do offensively. And he excels in both roles.

When we took him in the 3rd round I knew it was a steal. But I didn't realize he'd be one of Jerry's best draft picks ever. Hall of famer and legend.

Come on...that was ALL Parcells...:omg: <sarcasm off>

Where is he lining up on D?

He actually started out as a DE at UT. Some of the more established players there, John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth, were less than thrilled with his arrival. He took their advice and moved to TE, a position that was nothing but a glorified blocker in their system. Then he went off against Alabama one game and the rest is history.

Said it before, Witten is the modern day Iron Mike.
Dikta is one of my all time favorites.
That puts Jason Witten way up on my list.
I think he is the greatest TE in Cowboy history.
You think he's the greatest TE in Cowboys history? Way to go out on a limb there!

Take a look at the list of Cowboys' TEs and tell me who the competition is: http://pfref.com/tiny/db0hb

It is only fair the man get a ring ! To top off a hall of fame career!
