No. It isn't a dig at you. You bemoaned the fact there are no cricket or rugby sucks threads. I was trying to atone for my bile towards soccer.

Nothing will appease you however.

I post this mainly to appease uptight soccer fans.

It is an utterly stupid and snobbish sport. I mean how stuck up do you have to be to calls your rules "Laws?" That's what they call them though, "the laws of cricket." Their stupid "laws" even have a copyright. Uh, no one wants to steal them idiots.

These matches can go on for days. How stupid is that? By doing that they basically reduce their potential fanbase to fanatics and family. How many people can possibly give up 5 days to watch this "sport?"

Don't get me wrong their players are certainly skilled, but who the hell cares?

The action takes place in the middle of the field in an area called the "pitch." Now if you know baseball or have seen a cricket snippet you might think this because one team is on defense and pitches the ball. You would be wrong. They "bowl" the ball.

I'd continue to explain this nonsense to you, but the truth is it sucks so much that it sickens me. We needed a cricket sucks thread. I hope you enjoy it.

Why don't you just be honest? I specifically mentioned cricket in the other thread, and you start this thread on cricket and call soccer fans uptight. You were trying to get laughs alright, but not from me. It's not an olive branch. It's a dig.

I can't believe I have to actually call you out on this. It's completely transparent. Yet you've continued to insist it's not, so you've left me no choice.

Anyone that has played sports in their life understands that all sports are fun.ALL. If you get the right people that actually are willing to play and competition is there, it WILL be fun. No sense in ripping on another sport.

If you don't like it or don't understand it, then either ignore it or maybe give it a shot and maybe you'll gain an appreciation for an athletic event being played at its highest level.

But I don't understand why so many people (not just Hos, but dozens of people I've run into during this World Cup run) are so eager to brag about how much they hate soccer like it's some kind of badge of honor.

I don't like some things that are very popular, such as NASCAR and baseball, but I don't see the point of trumpeting my dislike from the rooftops.

And don't mistake me for a soccer-homer, either. I think a lot of the criticisms of soccer are valid, but I still enjoyed watching it for the high level of athletic contest that it is.

I know that this thread is some lame overreaction to some soccer fans, but when you post things like this please make sure to get your facts right.

In India it is a huge sport. I understand why people think its pointless just how some think baseball soccer and even football are pointless. I understand that you seem to hate soccer (or British sports in general) but its important to understand that some people really enjoy playing and even watching any sport, including cricket. I myself have played many times and I actually own a few bats.

As for the facts part. A sticking point for many of you is the length of the match. Currently there are 3 main types of matches.

Test matches can be 5 days long and can be boring as hell.

One day internationals are only 1 day long (about several hours) and is the play style for the world cup.

Twenty20 matches are newer and much more exciting. Those are probably about the length of a football game.

There's a lot of strategy that goes into the sport, and I, along with about a billion other people find it very fun and intriguing.
