Cricket Sucks

I post this mainly to appease uptight soccer fans.

It is an utterly stupid and snobbish sport. I mean how stuck up do you have to be to calls your rules "Laws?" That's what they call them though, "the laws of cricket." Their stupid "laws" even have a copyright. Uh, no one wants to steal them idiots.

These matches can go on for days. How stupid is that? By doing that they basically reduce their potential fanbase to fanatics and family. How many people can possibly give up 5 days to watch this "sport?"

Don't get me wrong their players are certainly skilled, but who the hell cares?

The action takes place in the middle of the field in an area called the "pitch." Now if you know baseball or have seen a cricket snippet you might think this because one team is on defense and pitches the ball. You would be wrong. They "bowl" the ball.

I'd continue to explain this nonsense to you, but the truth is it sucks so much that it sickens me. We needed a cricket sucks thread. I hope you enjoy it.

Amen brother....

To anyone who has taken this thread too seriously, it is a joke.

Nothing more than a lighthearted giggle.

Yeah, I'm joking too. ha. ha.

I cannot say that I dislike Cricket, I have never actually seen it played. I would like to see it once before I denounce it.

A few other games I would like to see are Bocce, Squash, and Polo (horseback)...

A few sports I like that are not overly mainstream, at least in the U.S. are Australian Rules Football (though I dont really understand the game...it is fun to watch), Water Polo (I find it to be one of the toughest sports from a physical standpoint), and LaCrosse.

As do some of the folks that bash Soccer.

I have given it a chance....and I firmly believe it is a great way for kids to go out and blow off some steam....get rid of all that energy, when they are bouncing off the walls.

However, I get so sick and tired of guys flopping and flailing all over the field with absolutely no contact. I get tired of watching 0-0 games cause they just run back and forth across the field. I get tired of one ref mistake costing the opposing team the game. I get tired of post game riots and killings. I am sorry but the game is boring.

I will admit, I can get into it when team USA is playing, but that has more to do with team USA, than soccer. After all, I can watch gymnastics, swimming, and diving when Team USA is involved, and I hate all 3.

I agree with some of the things you have said and I think your response is a very fair assessment of the sport.

I read an article on one of the blogs I subscribe too earlier this week that had a lot of the same complaints.

My comments were really aimed at the folks who claim Soccer takes no skill and the guys who play are not athletic.

It's just not big in the U.S. for whatever reason but if the same folks who bash it were born in another country where it is huge, I have to believe they would be fans of the sport.

Which clearly is not me.

After someone posted the World Cup Theme Song by Shakira, I actually did some research and it appears that some South Africans are upset that a South African wasn't chosen and they say she didn't give enough credit to the original writers of some of the versus she used.

And here I thought only Americans complained :laugh2: .
