Jerry and the organization really screwed up by totally telegraphing that Romo was done in Big D. The team should have announced that the difference between releasing Romo and keeping him was only $5 million and that the organization would be more than comfortable with Romo and Dak competing for the job. However, the team would be open to moving Romo if fair compensation was offered. That's it, that's all you say and you shut the hell up about everything else.
You don't freaking broadcast to the entire league that Romo is done, its Dak's team now, we are moving on, and both the team and Romo have agreed to "do right" by each other.
I am honestly not surprised all the teams are ignoring our trade demands, they know its total BS and that Jerry is not going to hold Romo hostage for any extended period of time, maybe a couple of weeks at max. So if I am a GM, why the hell am I trading any picks away for a player that I know for a fact will be released? Yea, I may have to outbid some teams for Romo, but draft picks are way more valuable than money. The Browns handed Osweiler a check for $17 million just to get a 2nd round pick. That is how valuable draft picks are now days. So if I am a GM, I can overpay out the arse in my offer to Romo if I don't have to give up any picks.
The entire problem and the reason we cant get a trade done is because nobody believes we will keep him and that is where the critical error was made.
