Now that Millen has been fired, Jerry takes over as the worst GM of the last decade.

I think you're giving Jerry too much credit here.

The only two good things that he has done for this franchise were bring in Parcells and Jimmy Johnson, who were both great football minds and made the franchise respectable. Unfortunately, he ran both of them off, and now he's doing his best Al Davis impersonation while the media just loves all the punch...er, "storylines" that develop out of valley ranch. Anybody who says Parcells "quit" on this team is blatantly ignorant. He had no intention of dealing with Jerry and his meddling ways and the TO signing pushed it over the top. I'm sure Jerry was happy to see him go at the time so that he would get all the credit if the team continued to develop like it should have, and went on to win the Super Bowl. The only problem with Jerry's little plan was that he has absolutely no idea what he's doing, so the team regressed uncontrolably and now we're sitting here hoping that the 2009 season ends quickly so that we can get a new head coach. That's basically 3 seasons of a Super Bowl window down the drain since our playoff loss at Seattle...all because Jerry took back over and destroyed 4 years of work by Parcells (including sound development of Romo).

The only positive thing that most Jerry loyalists can defend is that he's willing to spend as much money as needed to win. Unfortunately, he spends it blindly with reckless abandon and no concrete plan. We spent years making fun of Snyder for bad decisions in DC, but the truth is we have the king of all idiots making even worse decisions here.

I'm new here, but I feel the need to speak up about all of the unwarranted criticism of our owner and head coach.

Just to remind you long time cowboy fans in case you forgot, Jerry Jones bought a sagging franchise and single handedly restored it to glory.

Funny satire. :laugh2:

Parcels, helped us get respectable, again are you serious?
yeah, we went 10-6,6-10,6-10, and 9-7, you call that respectable? Come on man.

After the crap we trotted out previous to that, yeah, its respectable.

Not great.

But respectable.

2 of those years, we made the playoffs. Sure, we were one and done. But its a far cry from the previous 4-5 years.

I'd call it respectable.

Just to remind you long time cowboy fans in case you forgot, Jerry Jones bought a sagging franchise and single handedly restored it to glory. And in just four years under his leadership, we won our first of three world titles in the 1990's. No team is going to win a championship every year and we are going through the motions, but he has done a lot of great things the last few years to get us back on track including hiring Wade Phillips. He has also done many great things for the Dallas community and his lifetime achievements are legendary.

As for Phillips, I think he has unfairly criticized for his playoff record, but as a head coach in the NFL he has only had one losing season in 7 full seasons as a head coach. Also it's not his fault that he has a QB that is a turnover machine that lacks the intangibles it takes to win games when they matter most in december and january. It's also not his fault that our roster is loaded with overrated and overpaid fatcats that refuse to listen to him and lack discipline and heart on the field.

Speaking of Romo, signing him to a long term contract was probably the worst move Jerry has made as GM, but he's far from the worst QB in the league, just not a top 10 elite player that is going to lead us to a championship without a top 5 defense like Balitmore or Pittsburgh.

Jerry has already said the coaching staff is in place, and I'm confident that Wade will have this team in the superbowl again within the next five years as we continue to trim the useless fat from this roster! Get er done Jerry!

You are right. Its Jerrys fault for signing those "fat cats".

So then what the hell are you talking about?

The emboldened portions are contradictory. You admonish us against blaming Jerry, then you deem our roster a playground of "overrated and overpaid fatcats that refuse to listen to him and lack discipline and heart."

Who do you think assembled this group of fatcats? The GM, otherwise known as Jerry Jones.

As GM, Jerry alone bears the onus of blame for the Cowboys' decade-long malaise.

If Jerry were the GM and not owner, he would've been fired long ago. There aren't many GMs who will retain their position after a 12 year playoff drought.

Speaking of Romo, signing him to a long term contract was probably the worst move Jerry has made as GM, but he's far from the worst QB in the league, just not a top 10 elite player that is going to lead us to a championship without a top 5 defense like Balitmore or Pittsburgh.

Name me 10 quarterbacks better than Tony Romo.

If you're going to be critical, at least be accurate.

Now was that a mistake or was it bias?

ya it was a mistake but why did he not mention the 3 straight 5-11 years prior to those? going from 5-11 to 9-7, 10-6 is certainly respectable.
