1)Rondell Carter - PS
2)Dorance Armstrong - Cut
3)Randy Gregory - PUP
4)Bradlee Anae - 55
5)Joe Jackson - 55
6)Jalen Jelks - LB
Saw a report the other day that they're already worried Carter won't make it to PS.

It's crowded on paper, but most of them suck.

Griffin and Lawrence are the easy starters, and Armstrong is a guy I like as a #3 or #4 end. Stats rarely scale with increasing volume, but if you projected his 2019 stats to a full-time workload, he'd have 8 sacks and as many QB hits as D-Law. He's not a starting caliber player at the moment, but I think he's a notch above the other guys on the roster.

After that, it's JAG city. Aldon Smith is a total unknown, but 5 years out of pro football, I'm not optimistic. Crawford looks washed at 30 with two bad hips. Gregory doesn't look like he'll play. Joe Jackson's just a straight line bull rusher - I can see some Crawford in him if I squint and turn my head, but I wouldn't count on him for anything right now. Anae's small and athletically limited. Jelks is a preseason hero. I think all of those guys are pretty much interchangeable at this point and any of them could be cut without me being upset about it.

Tank,Griffin and Aldon Smith are locks to make the team.I feel we will only keep 2-3 more from the following DEs

1)Rondell Carter
2)Dorance Armstrong
3)Randy Gregory
4)Bradlee Anae
5)Joe jackson
6)Jalen jelks

wild Card is Tyrone crawford, they should definitely cut him but they have unnatural affinity for him.
Crawford, Anae......Carter and Jackson to the practice squad.

Unless Crawford is asked to take a cut reduction, he'll actually be making more than starter, pro bowler Griffen this year.
Ridiculous.
Just leaving him off the roster in anticipating an eventual cur ?

DE's
1 Dlaw
2 Griffen
3 A. Smith
4 Gregory ?
5 Anae
6 Armstrong ? Jackson? Jelks ?

DTs:
7 McCoy
8 Poe
9 Gallimore
10 Woods

i believe McCarthy was quoted as saying he wants 6 edge rushers and 4 interiors....
A final fight for the sixth and last DE spot.
That's spot on, we are on the same page.

Crawford is progress-stopping dead weight.

It's well past time that he's sent packing and I believe that he finally will be.

It's a good problem to have really.

D-Law, Griffen and Anae are the locks. They're not going to cut a guy in his first season when they feel they him stole in the draft.

I don't think Crawford is going anywhere either, unless he's still hampered by his injury. He brings "position flex" to the group in case of injury to a DT. (btw, I love our DT rotation now!)

Smith will be given every chance, but he's not a lock. He's a cheap flyer on a once great player to see if he has anything left. If he doesn't, he's gone.

Gregory is a super long shot to get back now. He's griping that they aren't moving fast on him and I think there's a reason for that. And besides that, if he was back he'd be in the exact same boat as Smith.

Armstrong will most likely make the team, I think he's better overall than Jackson or Jelks. And he will absolutely make it if Smith and/or Gregory don't produce.

Jackson is a wild card. He's in if they lose out on Smith and Gregory. But if they get one of them back he's out. Probably PS again.

Jelks and Carter will be PS.

Always cool to disagree.
I have Him as 1st crack/inside track for b/u RDE/pass rush specialist, but still needing to prove it after such a long time away and such a chequered history.
Aldon Smith is playing with the first team at practice and by all accounts doesn't just look good, he looks great. I think he is a lock to make the team so this is all no surprise to me.

Does Gregory qualify for the PUP if reinstated?

i'm concerned how this is gonna play out,. the closer it gets to reg season, the more i can't help but
think Goodell wants to force Randy out of the entire 2020 season.
Early indication is he miss the entire camp, ..

To keep his suspension in limbo when NFL training camp is already here indicates NFL office being incredibly
irresponsibly disorganized, .or it's a personal agenda. And we saw with the Zeke suspension how it wasn't due processed
and seemed like a Goodell personal agenda.

Could it Goodell de ja vue vs Cowboys all over again ?

Totally agree with every word and nice to read a response not too far homer or bias tainted.

It truly is okay to be honest and critical when providing player analysis. Not everyone shows tremendous upside and the older ones have in fact seen their peak days a few years ago. It's okay to say that.

With all that being said, I appreciate your post.

Right now only locks are Lawrence and Griffen

Most likely to make the roster in order(this is assuming Randy is reinstated). They'll likely keep 4 of these since MM said they will keep six rush men, and four tackles
1. Crawford
2. Gregory
3. Smith
4. Anae
5. Armstrong
6. Jackson
7. Jenks
8. Carter

4 Tackles? Yow. Hill or Woods gone?

We could be getting old very fast if we're just taking the top players. Suppose it happens when you fill out the team with veteran rentals.

I believe both Anae and Hill will be rostered, unless they look totally lost in camp. They could go long in this area, but have to make up for it somewhere else, perhaps at safety where they have a few players who can play either CB or S.

I think this statement is often taken out of context.

That's largely a statement about who dresses on gameday. Given the age of some of the guys we've brought it, I could see a desire to have at least one more interior player.

I don't think Jerry is letting them cut Hill. Let's see what a year with some veteran mentoring can do for him.

So you think they have 10 DL active and even more than that on the 53?

Sounds aggressive
