If someone was blatantly stealing my money, I'd probably confront him too.

For some reason the first thing that popped into my head was that show where Cuban and rich people listen to some person's business proposition and then they shoot it down quickly or fund it. I think Cuban needs to have that same panel before the next guy they sign for the team, because Odom would have been dismissed quickly.

They Mavs should have some recourse. I would try to sue him for failing to uphold his side of the contract.

When Lamar wasn't showing up to practice and playing awful, I was wondering what Cuban thought. What a disaster that signing was.

Wait, I thought Mark Cuban never gets involved in the basketball side of his business?

Odom obviously pouted this whole season for the Mavs. An organization that would have treated him well... and wanted him...

Attention ***** to the max... note to Lamar... the Lakers AREN'T gonna sign you back next year...

I used to like him as a player but lost all respect for him as a Mav... he tanked it all year...

Cuban did the right thing by making him inactive. He probably thought the Lakers would take him back...

Not this year... not next year... not ever...

i suspect he'll be a Clipper next year to be back in his social scene, which he clearly lives for above all else. they squandered a lot of good will in Dallas.

They couldn't take him back until December anyway.

But yeah, that's pretty weak for Lamar to simply not show up. Pathetic.

He deserves to sit out or retire at this point. I lost a ton of respect for him as well, I used to see him as not getting his shot at stardom, or not on the right team. Now I think of him as a quitter and soft after this whole thing.

Cuban and the Mavs organization did the right thing, and perhaps the Lakers did too by unloading him at the time.

Damn you s&t... DON'T agree with me...

You are a good guy and a great poster here but you damage my creds when you, as a skins fan, agree with me... ;)

I have faith in you... come to the light... it's silver and blue....

No, that is what someone on here maintained and said Jerry needs to do the same. I am not naive enough to think any sports owner is hands off.

Cuban has always been way involved, but that's not a good thing.

The Rangers ownership are the model, not Cuban.

Not all stakes with owners are equal. The Rangers are a vanity toy owned by a conglomerate of faceless millionaires with all the risk and investment spread out. For each of them the Rangers are far down the line in their portfolios. If just one guy's checkbook was on the line with the Rangers, and if the team was one of his his primary financial investments, I'm sure he would be heavily involved. In what other line of business is it a faux pas for the guy who signs the checks to address one of his highest paid employees when he's obviously shirking job responsibilities?

If the choice is between an involved Cuban and a non involved Donald Carter, I'll take the involved Cuban.

Love and prefer the Rangers model.

However, the Mavs are much closer to the Rangers model than the Cowboys model. Cuban is involved as the spender and as a fan, but he has always hired top end guys to handle the basketball stuff. Nelson is a very good GM.

This is not like Jerry at all in that regard.
