If Dak had played against Dick Butkus he would likely have a broken leg along with the ankle, and of course Butkus would never be on twitter and ... not be sorry (in public). Men were men. Football has changed.
Huh?
There was a time when surgery was done without anesthesia. You want to go back to then also?
Want to go back to Folgers coffee vs freshly roasted beans? Want to go back to dial up vs broadband internet?
Must I go on?
There is a difference in being tough and having compassion. Aaron Donald is just as tough as Butkus or Mean Joe Green or you name the player.
Patrick Mahomes would school destroy league in 84 like Marino did as he did two years ago.

Getting ready for the mockery and "here we go again"....

The day after the ugly, sadden news of Mr. Prescott suffering a horrible / nasty ankle injury. It was hard to see him sitting on the field, holding his leg and pointing at his ankle. Was nice to see both Coach McCarthy and Garrett come onto the field and show reasons of concern/caring. Camera shot at the owner box saw Stephen Jones emotional reaction....

So now what? Some fans are now saying The Jones need to support Mr. Prescott. Depending on what side of the field you sit: You want Dak to get paid. #4 signed the franchise tag for one season, betting on himself to rack in a large, long-term deal like Russell Wilson. Meanwhile the other side, know the salary cap is going to go down in 2021, will be hard to handle the salary cap next season.

The Culture in Dallas has been mediocre AT BEST for three (3) decades. Hell, this franchise has a .500 (ish) record since the opening of AT&T Stadium. So what is this so-called "cultural" problem? People will have their own definition so I'll throw mine out. Here comes the "here we go again"

Being famous/popular has been MORE important--in Dallas-- than winning for 3 decades. Jerry is the most famous owner / GM that has been riding on the 90s success for far too long. Loves his post game interviews, fans screaming at him when he enters the field for pre-game. Majority of fans could name a large amount of owners name but vast majority know who owns the Dallas Cowboys.
Winning is more important to the Patriots than signing players to selling jerseys. They will trade away players a year early, so to get draft value to keep youth cycling through the franchise and avoiding salary cap situations. Patriots don't hit on all their drafts picks but with so many to use, they hit more than they don't.

Dak is a warrior QB and to see him miss games, for the 1st time, is hard to see. He bet on himself for a long-term deal, while rejecting a smaller long-term deal didn't work out. Dak could very well miss the entire 2021 season as Alex Smith missed a few season after his devastating injury.

As I said prior, the 2021 salary will be lower, which will force several franchise to make many tough choices like letting go several of their own HIGH priced QBs. Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers, to name a few could be seeking new locations AT FAIR LESSER salaries, which then could allow teams to add depth.

But going back to the main topic: The Culture. Three decades of the same. Nothing is really going to change until the GM is change and we ALL know that isn't going to happen until that GM visits Al Davis.
Winning (playing football) has be be MORE important than popularity/famous/getting paid in Dallas. The Culture with Dallas has been upside down for the 3 decade drought and the Cowboys will NEVER see a NFC Title game. let alone a Superbowl until the change happens.
So lets the mockery dams loose....... attack away

this is easy , if it bothers you for 30years why are you still around, being fan is choice, you can easily delete your account take all your cowboy gear to the goodwill, and disappear forever. We wont notice..

I believe a lot of you who continue to whine and grip and cite the 30year of misery , luv misery

misery loves company

some of you simply like having blogs, forums, and SM to just whine and complain , you enjoy the sufferings and seek your own kind to wallow in the mud with..

Im fan since 1980 and will continue being fan and while it can be disappointment game to game or year to year, each year is a new one they arent lumped into 25years, new players, coaches, and renewed hope each year..

its sports being a fan is suffering through the bad times and it makes the good moments better..

there are sports franchises that had 100year droughts , 60 year droughts , i mean some NFL teams took 60years to win their first title , they have ONE in their entire existence..some current teams with renewed greatness had 50 years between titles ie KC and their revered coach hadn't won one in his what 40years of coaching and 15years between even getting to a Sb and now its paying off..

a lot of us understand the reality's that winning titles is tough and not letting the ownership off the hook for some of major mistakes that have been made but realize its a sport and we choose to support the team and actually have pride in the Dallas Cowboys franchise thats spanned since 1960 been ups and downs and right now tough times can challenge the fanhood but if you stop and take it year by year vs constantly living in the past, well it may be less of disappointment..

the positive part of this is we arent waiting on our first, 2nd , 3rd, or 4th title, we are waiting on our 5th..

some of these years are a kick in the gut , a throat punch, all the misery but when that 5yth title arrives it will be that much sweeter..

you said it yourself ownership ad GM not changing so why constantly complain about thing you cant change move on from being fan like bad relationship, you have battered fan syndrome, its not healthy

Move on or just calm down.. lighten up a bit..

Just a slight correction we are waiting on our 6th title.
I am one who constantly complains about the broken culture and 25 years stuck in mediocrity. I know nothing will change until Jerry allows it to.
I can’t help but bring up these org problems.

and i cant help reminding people titles dont grow on trees. Ask the Texas Rangers about that..NONE the eagles got their first recently KC between tiles 50years and Reid supposed to be the greatest coach on earth right now has ONE in his entire career just ONE SB it took nearly his entire LIFE as football coach that probably started on lower level maybe HS coach etc think about that.. NE spoiled fans made them envious but that is not the norm..

all around sports there were a few teams that took 100years to win one..seriously i know its disappointing waiting on our 6th title but some are waiting on their first or second..

it matters to me those old title are very relevant its a franchise spanning back to 1960 and Jerry won 3, the other ownership Two.. i get the frustration but sometimes a voice of reason has to be infused in these ridiculous threads that wont change thing..
dont like it dont follow, dont be fan, like I said misery loves company if its that much of disappointment, maybe dont be fan anymore..

no amount of complaining, changing the ownership or Gm anymore

im happy to just have football this year given 2020 well documented issues, its blessing to just have it , appreciate it.. Garett gone i thought that was what everyone wanted, its new staff that got all of one game before the firing and fraud posts started..

its sad fans dont understand and are always upset.. nice expectations to think MM was coming in and fixing the culture overnight...especially given this offseason and now a record number of injuries' to major key positions..

While I respect what you are saying, we cannot forget the real cause of the problem. We can modify the window dressing all day.
Until things change in the front office, as in a philosophy change. I am not even saying Jerry sells the team because no NFL owner ever wants to sell.
Just really sit back and analyze why teams win and lose. Coaching matters, Front office matters, culture matters.
If a team has not been able to address their issues what are we really doing here? Winning does not matter to this franchise like it does to us fans. It is very obvious, when we are in our teens, 20, 30's, 40's we have a different mindset and I am sure the ownership also has a different mindset. Jerry just wants to grow the brand, he has 3 SB's. If we wanted to win we would not have threads about culture.
I am a diehard just like you but i cannot just accept the same old BS that Jerry spews. When was the last time Jerry actually tried to go for a SB?
Was it under Parcells when he got TO?
Was it 2009 under Wade Phillips, was it when they signed Brandon Carr the first time?
I also give credit to the FO, it is not like it was after Jimmy left where the FO had no clue. Drafting Shante Carver, David Lafleur, Ekuban types.
Yes the drafting has gotten better, but now we have the approach of ignoring FA, and loving our guys too much.
I wish i could just boil it down to one thing, but it's like this FO is always a few steps behind.
For example look at the Pats, Ravens, Chiefs, Rams a couple years go. Seattle.
These FO examples have a vision, they know what they are trying to do. It doesn't always translate to a SB win.
My ask is no longer a SB win, I just want the team to make it to a championship game.. I want to have the opportunity to get to a SB.
We all mocked the Eagles for not winning a SB under Reid and McNabb, I actually thought of it the other way, they made 4 straight championship games in the NFC and they made one SB and lost. At least they were not just watching youtube vides of the 1992 championship game like sometimes do... :)
Our FO folks do not wake up with a goal of winning the SB. Their goal might be how can we sign Dak to a 4 year deal and control costs while try to win 7-10 games. That has been the philosophy since Parcells left.
If we win the division great, if we win a playoff game great. With this remaining in the middle and striving for mediocrity the Cowboys players, team, aura is near flatline. We are basically the Chargers without the cool uniforms, heck even they have been to a championship game after us.

but it wont change so all the griping and whining will change nothing ..its waste of energy.. not new news is it? these types of reminders are they needed?

NO they are not,

"God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and. Wisdom to know the difference."

doesnt most fan state Jerry looked up to and modeled how ownership after Al davis correct, when he passed away everything was supposed to change..

2019 7 9 0 ?
2018 NFL Oakland Raiders 4 12
2017 NFL Oakland Raiders 6 10
2016 NFL Oakland Raiders* 12 4
2015 NFL Oakland Raiders 7 9 0
2014 NFL Oakland Raiders 3 13 0
2013 NFL Oakland Raiders 4 12 0
2012 NFL Oakland Raiders 4 12
2011 NFL Oakland Raiders 8 8 0
2010 NFL Oakland Raiders 8 8 0

well it truly hasn't not for the better and to booth they regurgitate an old coach they fired way back when.. so 9 yrs post Davis not even sniffed a SB..

Dude what are you talking about? Please go back and read my whole post.
You can accept the past 25 years and be happy with this "team", i will not accept it. I don't want Jerry to pass away. I don't know if Jerry dreamed of being the next Al Davis.
Cool quote.. I think it might be more relevant in one's personal life not on a message board.

Wow,
I guess as you said, even a fluke, law of averages championship game appearance is asking too much now brother.
It seems that the cultural standards of both the FO, fan base and message boards have meshed into one.
Mediocrity is king.

he was accused of forming bond and mimicking the raiders Al Davis ownership[ structure, where you been? no one wishing nor did i say they are wishing he passes away but just because teams change ownership or GMs coaches etc on regular basis doesnt always get better instantly.. simply pointing that out, how many owners , GMs and coaches did Cleveland go through before its just now looking up even a little bit? Jags are tryig this and not really working, maybe it will eventually but im not seeing much positive change..

I mean jerry finally gets rid of garett and brings in a coach at least with SB on his resume and he gets one game before the Tards all come out wanting to fire him? this is the issue with the fan base , they love to gripe and complain say they wont accept it yet here they are on a DC forum discussing the DC..

not accepting it means no longer associating yourself with the team as fan..

just pointing that out so many fans around the zone keep saying they wont accept it yet looking like they remain lubed up and talkign Cowboys, you fall right into jerrys plan.. as long as you are talking , you make them more relative :)

I guess some of us can point out the failures of this organization instead of being lemmings who just accept being mediocre.

Yep,
Just brush it off. The bottom line reality guys and the fanhood message board regulators always have these little spats every now and then. Just shows exactly where peoples standards are.
More proof positive that Jerry is a master at his craft. Fooling the public while selling false hope.
But you, as a fan, dont dare to point this out or I'll call you a troll or tell you to find another team cuz you're not a real fan.
Get outta my face with that nonsense, lol

silly. lots of plummers and bus drivers in that era. and there's nothing manly about not having empathy.
