Cure for Cancer

I was joking because there's little chance that this actually "cures cancer" and it's actually a dangerous and sad thing to do to actually suggest to someone who might be dealing with such a situation that it could help.

Seek medical help from a physician. Stay away from quacks with ridiculous cure all voodoo treatment.

Personally, I think chemotherapy is a quack voodoo treatment. It's equivalent to throwing a cluster bomb on the body - attempt to kill all the bad guys while taking a some of the good guys in the process. In the meantime, hope that none of the cluster bombs affected any of the other good guys that survived the bombing by mutating their otherwise existent healthy cells.

And yes, my mother suffers from cancer. She went through about six different chemotherapy treatments that did nothing except make the medical establishment thousands of dollars.

I'm sorry to hear that about your mother. My mother went through the same thing. It didn't turn out well for her. She passed away June 21, 2007 at the age of 58.

Sorry to to hear about your mother. My mother is still alive, but she's lost a lot of weight and very weak, so we're pretty much resigned.

I'm not sure we need to be so absoluteist about all this.

There are various treatments that have worked for some and not for others.

I lost my dad to cancer 12 years ago. I think its great to spread the word about alternative treatments because there are many folks that are diagnosed as terminal by the traditional medicine community who really need other options.

So lets not declare this or that either the answer or quackery. Many times its not that simple.

I dunno man. Been around 80 years and doesn't have a lot of scientific backing. Just doesn't add up.

And this type of study will never get any backing because no one will ever be able to test it using the scientific method.

Sounds a lot like Kevin Trudeau(sp?) who sells the book about cures "they don't want you to know".

Just doesn't sound like a legit option, IMO. I honestly hope no one tries this route as a result of seeing this thread.

The only cure from Cancer will come from some sort of Gene Therapy or nanotechnology or something of the like. No mystical miracle sumtin sumtin.

They are making great strides in understanding our DNA completely. Once that is understood completely from A to Z .... THEN (in laymen terms) they can take some good cells from your own body, put them in a petry dish, grow those cells, remove the cancer cells and replace them with GOOD cells derived from your own body = ZERO rejection and ultimately 100% cure.

Not long after that, they won't even need to do that. They will *create* people without the cancer causing genes from the get go.

Didn't make myself clear I guess.

There are lots of folks diagnosed as terminal who have no traditional treatment options. Why would we steer them away from an "unproven" method when they have no other options?

Why would we refuse hope to someone who otherwise has none? I'm not suggesting someone forgoe more proven methods in favor of un-proven. Just that when "proven" treatments are insufficient you give people other options besides just twiddling your thumbs while you await the grim reaper's arrival.

Yeah its a touchy subject right now.

Going in to have a baby and to be able to choose eye color, physical traits and being totally cancer free is STILL not a "natural" way for many people. But it will be one day.

Yeah, won't it be great when there are no people with disabilities, no physical challenges to overcome. Yup, it'll be a great day when we're all the same and we can weed out the weak links. And, hey! If we don't like what we get, then we can just kill it (oh, wait. we already do that).

No, thank you. I want no part of your "perfect" society. Come to think of it, didn't the ***** do something similar?

Amen. I lost a daughter to brain cancer. My wife and I tried the Gerson treatment for a while, and Holistic medicine too. I believe she would have lived a little longer if we didnt waste our time with that nonsense.

Not at all. I respect the sanctity and diversity of human life. You don't. End of conversation.

Quite the sanctimonious and oddly self-serving stance to take, especially for the fat guy who decided to wrap a rubber band around his gut, in lieu of mixing-in an after dinner walk every so often.

I think you lack understanding of how the natural progression of life works. It is people who protect the weak, (read civilized) that alter human evolutions natural course. Before civilization, the weak and diseased would be killed off. The DNA work people are doing just prevents the weak from occuring in the first place rather than just letting the weak scurry amongst like rats. :laugh2:

I disagree with the guy, but that was a bit uncalled for.
