The NFL does not give out the award. The Associated Press votes on which player is the league's most valuable player in their opinion.

In this particular instance, it is important to take note the amount of talk Prescott receives from the media in comparison to other players. It is not a scientific approach but it may give some insight into how likely he might get enough support from AP (e.g. media) voters.

If Houston makes the postseason, they will be over .500. In that case, I don't see how he does not get it.

I know there is NFL offensive player of the year. However, maybe have a QB MVP award. And, a non QB MVP award.
Why not Goff? He is plays for just as bad franchise and they actually can finish with the best record in the conference. That’s more in line for an mvp candidate

Didn’t say it wasn’t. However, as I stated, Stroud might be in conversation because they believe that Houston can potentially win the division if they can run the table. I think that division is winnable at 10 or 11 wins.

If that happens, he has to be the MVP or at the very least a finalist.
If they won ten plus games and the division it’s a different story, remember this is the same team that lost to Carolina a few weeks ago

Just not true.

They were visibly much much different when Hurts was out last year, where the supporting cast was all the same.

I don't think he should be neck and neck with Mahomes .... but he's not some interchangeable part.

It's like saying Troy Aikman was nothing...coulda just used Brad Johnson again with that team
I don't see Hurts as elite. I don't see him as a potential HOF type QB.....you can plug in Herbert and you can get similar results. the defense, the OL, the running game and those WRs and TE (yes, now with a broken Arm). he has a lot of parts to play with.

Feels like CJ Stroud should be running in front on this award.

Don’t know why ESPN is pushing Stroud, they aren’t giving a rookie an mvp with a .500 record. Hell Dak lead his team to a #1 seed and he didn’t get it by a mile
.556

And playing like a demen. You should watch this kid.

Oh....well I'm not mentioning HOF and Hurts in same breath either.

And i won't argue ur Herbert suggestion too much. I think Herbet has a lot of talent and who knows what he could achieve with an elite team around him. It's an unknown though...but it's possible he would become great in that scenario ( sadly for him don't think we'll ever know)

But you ain't gonna just take ANY qb and plug him in their and get similar results...even from the pocket. You could put Derek Carr in there on the Philly team and he's NOT all of a sudden gonna become a great QB

Yeah I'm surprised Goff isn't mentioned as they very well might get the 1 seed.

I don't know his stats though

Mahomes and Hurts neck and neck

Mahomes +275, Hurts 300

Lamar Jackson and Tua at 600

Then a big drop

Josh 1400
Joe B 1800

CJ Stroud!!! 2000. (If he keeps it up NEXT year, he'll join the superstar QB club. Poor poor Carolina.

Then another huge drop to the fringe candidates

RUNNING BACK Christian McCaffrey is 8th

Then QB Brock Purdy

And hey! OUR BOY DAK JUST SLIPPED IN AT 10TH!!!!! last year he probably didn't crack the top 50 so good for him for simplifying things, knowing himself and playing within his abilities.... makes all the difference obviously
A joke your QB Hurts is 2nd. Don’t get too cocky over it. A lot of luck in a bunch of those wins and he is only up there because of the wins. Not playing very well other than as a RB

It’s worth a small bet($100) on Stroud. If he continues to improve and gets Houston into the playoffs….that will garner some attention. That is an overnight turnaround with Ryans and Stroud compared to last season.
Disagree that it’s worth any bet. The only rookie to win MVP and OROY was Jim Brown in 1957. I think the current decision makers for these awards are now too trained to name a rookie for one, and a non-rookie for the other. Most voters will consider it ‘enough’ to give Stroud the OPOY…even if he deserves more.

Most would agree with you…well most outside of the Dallas fanbase anyway.

10th is about right.

Last thing you b want to see is MVP race discussions.

Let’s just win games.

He's not my QB because he doesn't play for Dallas.

Also...he hasn't been running much at all recently, and playing better then ever while just staying in the pocket.

Stay informed!
