I genuinely hope he listens to Schotty. I think we are so close to being a SB caliber team that it'd be a shame if Steele ruins it. This might be our best team since 2014 or 2016. We have a legit defence FINALLY. Our offense should be dynamic again, and Aubrey and Anger are looking and sounding great. I like the coaching staff. Everything looks good except for one area. The ONLY Achilles heel, aside from injuries, that I can see on this roster is tackle, and especially RT with Steele (since it sounds like Guyton has actually stepped up).

Most of the tackles on OP's list were hurt the majority of last year and didn't play a full season. Pretty sure that is the reason they're still available.

I get why fans are harping on Steele, but his replacement is in next year draft if he struggle this year. Best bet going forward is to put a TE for max protect

The NFL as a whole has an OL depth problem.

Its too early to say now, but it looks like Steele peaked and is now regressing.

My bigger concern is what's behind him, because as of now there isn't anyone better out there.

Is he? I’ve been hearing he has steadily improved (while Steele has regressed). What we need is Guyton to freakin stay healthy for a whole season to really see if he can do it or not. At times he looks good, but then he has to go out for this or that. Steele just sounds like he’s gonna be sorry, and he was mediocre as hell to begin with.

Yup, it sounds like, or Guyton is improving and can stay healthy, we might FINALLY see why we drafted him in the 1st round. Then the question is just Steele.

Soooo....I saw that we might have a solution. Someone, I think in this thread or the other one I have, asked about Nate Thomas. I wonder, I just saw a thread about Pete, the undrafted tackle. He has looked good. I wonder, if he's as good as he looked against Seattle, why not give Thomas reps at RT and let Pete focus on being the backup to Guyton? Maybe that's how we solve the Steele problem?

Lolz maybe. But, tbf, Pete has looked good against Seattle. I completely forgot about him until I saw him in another thread. Looks like he was at LT. So, maybe he can be the depth piece behind Guyton/start when Guyton is hurt. Then, maybe we have Nate Thomas at RT? Nate Thomas can't be THAT much worse than Steele, right?

This may seem like a reach, but I know this player personally my younger brother that passed away in 2020 coached him in pee wee and stayed in close touch all the way up until his senior year in college at Clemson. That player is Jackson Carmen! The bungles tried making him a guard, but he is and OT the same one who owned Trey Young when he was the best defensive end in college at Ohio st. Would love to see him get a chance in Dallas he just finished a solid season at LT for the Houston Gamblers of the UFL he is an easy upgrade over any back up tackle Dallas has at this point, and he is also better than Steele.
