You’re not seeing a lot of 100 yard rushers these days because a lot of teams are using multiple backs. Bijan Robinson has only had a couple of 100 yard games in his career and those were last season. He’s gone 18 straight games without a 100 yard game because Atlanta uses multiple backs. The combination of Lamar Jackson and Henry has Baltimore leading the league in rushing.
This is why I think YPC is more important. Dowdle didn't have 100 yards against the Steelers but when he did get the ball, he was ripping off yardage to the tune of 4.4 per carry. Obviously, role has to be considered, because if you are always using one back in short-yardage situations, his YPC is naturally going to be lower. But when your starting back shows he can hurt a defense that doesn't want to pay much attention to him, it makes a big difference. Pittsburgh wanted to play Cover-2, but had to use more single-high because of how Dowdle played. Frankly, I didn't think he had it in him.

No problem, just give the ball to Zeke 50 times and he’ll get you the 100.

Seriously, don’t be shocked if we don’t get any one to rush for 100 this season.

Pollard is the only back we’ve had in the last several years who could break off long runs. The lack of big plays is the biggest negative with the backs we have.

I wonder what the record is for the last 19 games. How important is the run game really. Just enough to keep the defense honest , run the clock down in the fourth quarter. Back in the 70s the NFC would mostly be running , while the AFC would mostly be passing. Had so many great runners throughout the years Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, O.J. Simpson, Emmett Smith. Can’t forget Dorset. Riggins.
In the past two years this Cowboys team has been literally run out of buildings. Bills, Arizona, Ravens etc

I wouldn’t say it’s an old and unimportant philosophy IMO

We're stacking sub 100 yard days.

I wonder what the NFL record streak is currently.

if the QB was any better, then teams would respect the passing game. right now, they don't respect Dak and passing game and focus on stopping the run, forcing cowboys to pass and we fail because of Dak. his inaccuracy, his tendency to force balls, his tendency to be a first read only QB is damaging to the offense. Lance is a better option and we were 5-1 with Rush.

Mostly thanks to the NFL creating rules that benefit QB and WR play. Passing plays are more exciting. It creates more Fantasy Football numbers. It's better for gambling. NFL knows exactly what its doing.

Not trying to say our running game doesnt stink because it is God awful.
I agree. Jethro thinks he is playing fantasy football.

One reason is we’re using a committee of backs, rather than one back and obviously we don’t have a great runner. None of our backs break off long runs. Pollard was our last 100 yard rusher. I believe it was around week three of the 2023 season. He was given 23 carries and came up with 122 yards.
Anyone watch the Niner game???

McCaffrey, then undrafted Jordan Mason, then Issac Guerendo.

RB by committee works great when you have a dominant online.

After Sunday, it will probably be 20.
was that the correct way to do that?
If it s truly Rbbc it shouldnt be an issue, total running yards if its 130-150 range in 35 atttempts , should be plenty, combined with effective passing gameof 200+ yards.

Barring a really lucky play that’s will continue. Dowdle is our best back but he’s not a guy you give him 25 carries and he stays strong. We need a true #1 RB or at least a guy with much more talent
