There is a good chance we could sign Curtis Martin to a short term contract next year...How about Martin coming in to help out the running game and screen plays??

For the right price I am all for it!!

I like Martin but at his age and coming off knee surgery I would prefer to stay with the younger guys who still have a future ahead of them

Good chance????? Your opinion?

Mine = NO

We have three good RB's on the roster...no need to add more.

I would much rather have TT on the roster at his current price tag rather than CM for a bundle (at the age of 97)

why would we want a high dollar, 30 yr old rb coming off an injury? our inability to run screens has nothing to do with the rb's but the oline.they are too big and fat to move out side. i think martin is one of the most underrated rb';s in the nfl over his career but his career is just about over

Seriously, lets stop all the discussion of bringing in older, past their prime veterans. Just because they were drafted by BP does not mean they will be good fits or even produce in our organization.

There is a good chance that any team could sign Martin. We don't need help with our running game. We've got two young, dynamic backs who provide a pretty good two headed monster. Besides, we've never been able to run a good screen play and our current QB doesn't seem to be able to put the right touch to run it effectively. Under your logic, we should trade for Chad Pennington as well.

If history is any indication, short term contracts to "veterans" haven't helped this team (see Thomas, Anthony...George, Eddie....Leaf, Ryan)

Unfortunately... Parcells would take a LONG look at Martin if he was available...

I agree that it's not a needed or very good move. However, Martin is not only a former BP player, he's one of his favorites.

While I may not like the idea, it is certainly a possibility.

That is what is important to understand.

Just like with Terrell Owens, we all may have our little opinions, but what the team would do is often drastically different from what informal fan polls indicate.

Maybe in the offseason we should go and sign every player from the Jets that has ever been within a football field of Bill Parcells!

:rolleyes:
