Cut Carr or make him take a pay cut?

I say make him take a pay cut and if he refuses cut him. We still need him for the right price.

Make him take a pay cut. Who will be our 3rd corner if we cut him? Mo will be on pup most likely and I dont want to start the season with a rookie and a db who may miss some of training camp because he wants a new deal...

Can't make him take a pay cut. I think they keep him at his current salary and next year he is cut.

I believe he's already refused to take a pay cut.

Yes, but he held the upper hand at the time.

Carr can risk getting cut, and make less than what the Cowboys are willing to offer in a salary reduction, or he can hold tight and continue to call their bluff. Personally, I think they can use all the CB help they can get at any price.

They could make him take a pay cut but guarantee more of his salary. He may go for that.

They do nothing with him. We need him. We can't make him take a pay cut. We can't cut him and suffer. We have the salary cap space. There are not any free agents we will be chasing after at this point. It's not your money. He isn't garbage.

We almost can't cut him unless we get another CB in this draft in the top half of it. Maybe they will for cap reasons but it will make the team weaker if we do.

At least the 'Boys have some leverage now -- Jones is such a quick study that Carr can be released if his salary demands are inappropriate.

That's one of the reasons the war room was so giddy about the pick. The strategy every year is to go into the draft without any glaring weaknesses, so that the value players that become surprisingly available can be taken. DB was the area of most need, especially considering our long-standing deficit at FS. We seem to have solved that problem, as our target fell to us.

For those that wanted pass rush first, there really weren't any blue chips available. Brown at the 1-tech was reasonable, but not a disruptive force and not highly valued in Marinelli's system. The Hardy signing took that weakness off the board, and we'll get some solid help on the DL tonight. Our current young DL depth is also reportedly making a good impression on the coaches.

I say you try to keep him. The Byron Jones pick is great and all, but cb is a hard position to adapt to in the nfl and I would like too see the cowboys start scandrick and carr with jones as the hybrid cb/s. If you retain everyone headed into the season the secondary is looking pretty solid. However, If you cut Carr were left with scandrick and jones starting with claiborne in the mix. If that's our team I dont know how we improved this team in the short term that is supposed to contend.

Carr is still needed, a rookie isn't going to come in and play at his level day one. Why draft someone only to cut another player at the same position making it depleted again?

You can't have too many CB's these days especially when ya have one or two made of glass. People think Dallas holds the cards over Brandon but they do not. Carr can and should refuse a pay-cut, he is not held over a barrel here.

Go ahead and go into the season with Mo and Jones/Scandrick as corners and see how that turns out. One can't stay on the field and the other is holding out ATM.

I don't see anything happening to him unless something goes bizarrely awry (i.e. Jay Ratliff).

We will keep him around and then probably look to cut him or force him to take a pay-cut next season.

The Cowboys signed a contract. They should be required to honor the contract that they signed or cut him altogether. It's greedy to go back and just expect a player to make less money so you can preserve cap space.

(Or so I'm told whenever a player under contract wants more money).

This move affects Carr's roster spot next season, not this one. Especially not with Scandrick unhappy with his contract, too.
