Cut Mingo to keep Camden Brown

You're 5th / 6th WR has to play special teams, its a non-negotiable. Mingo stays because he excels at special teams.
Then make Brown play special teams. Problem solved.

Not like Mingo is out here forcing fumbles on returns.

Your 6th WR is inactive and can't play anything. There are five inactives each week.

I think keeping Mingo over Brown just because Mingo plays Special Teams is ludicrous.

Brown has shown more in one training camp and preseason than Mingo has in his entire career, now going into his fourth year.

Keep the obviously more talented WR and figure out how to replace Mingo on STs. He is not irreplaceable.
Key words: TC and preseason.

Guys stop taking the OP's bait. There is no reason we have to choose one over the other. We keep six WRs and cut elsewhere.

brown has a higher upsiide and can grown into another flournoy, just based on what he has accomplished in one training camp and preseason.
mingo has zero upside and is a FA next year.

who says Brown can't play special teams?
That's what I want to know too. Not much is needed for kickoffs anymore with the rules the way they are. And I don't see why Brown can't learn to do what Mingo does on defensive punts. We're not punting on offense this year so no need to worry there. ;)

GO COWBOYS! :star:

It's not Mingo vs Brown.

Every 53 prediction I see that cuts one of them is keeping guys like Howell, Williams, & Barron. All 3 of those guys can go, Barron hasn't shown much except for that one practice that was clearly out of the norm. How often are Williams and Barron ever going to play anyway? Liufau can fill both of those positions sporadically if needed + special teams. If you end up needing a 5th linebacker down the road you can find a Justin Barron at any point during the season on the street.

We don't need a 3rd QB on the 53 man roster, just sign someone to be your practice squad/emergency QB on game day. If it ever gets to the 3rd QB the season is over at that point anyway most likely.

Do we need 5 safetys? I’ve been ready to move on from Hooker since 2024. He’s average at best and sucks in coverage

I have to say that I’m shocked at the 180 this forum has done on Mingo.

The guy was an absolute zero his entire career. The board hated him.

One special teams tackle and one long touchdown and he’s untouchable. Not only to some of them want him over Brown, they’d get rid of Turpin to keep him too.

Dude has put people under some kind of spell,

Some people are acting like Mingo is better than Brown just because he's made a few catches and barely stopped someone from returning a fumble all the way back instead of just 50 yards. Yeah, he had the long td catch from Milton but he beat a backup on a nine route. Let's not forget this guy couldn't do jack except block for a year and a half since he's been here.

Brown's contested catch ability is special. If he can improve his route running he could be a real weapon, especially after a year in the weight room.
Mingo fits on the team.

He has always been a good blocker.

Mingo is definitely a free agent next year. And not one you’re paying to keep. In fact, I think he’s adjusted his contract just to come back this year.

Pickens is also a free agent.

So at minimum you’d be looking at 1/3 of your current receivers, if you did keep all six, potentially gone next season.

That's partly why I might, if I was the FO, dangle Mingo out as trade bait and see what we can get back. He might be able to get us a 6, which wouldn't be horrible.
