Cut or Trade 3

Hanna
Mayowa
Chaz Green
Scandrick

Those 4 would give us around 9 mil to spend in free agency and all have replacements on the roster already or are easily replaceable in the draft in my opinion. Nobody would even notice those 4 were gone and they could be replaced by a high level free agent addition like Tre Boston.

Of course that won’t happen because our front office is too afraid of their incompetence to participate in free agency....let’s hope they prove me wrong this year.

I just don’t think he’s worth the time
well it wont get any cheaper to find out in training camp if his got something or not.
Cutting him now would be strange after training camp if he cant catch a pass [they rave about his hands]
cant block [hard nothing bad] running routes [he needs work] .The mantra is 3 years one way or the other.

Give me three players you would cut, trade, or a combination of both mixed in between, that you believe this team needs to move on from. Dead weight, progress stoppers, lost a step, lost two steps, not worth the contract, injury prone, position needs to be upgraded/churned, all of the above, etc, etc...

Here are some examples:

Dez
Witten
T-Will

Crawford
Scandrick
Mayowa

Green
Bell
Looney

My first three are brazen and even though it might set us back 1-2 seasons, it’s addition by subtraction. Granted our coaches aren’t creative enough to do something with what we would have left plus maybe adding a few vet fa’s and a draft pick or two, but our secondary looks good!!!

Hypothetically speaking and God forbid but say if our team goes 7-9 or worse because we did nothing, then we contemplate this idea with a more open mind and get more participation in this type of discussion. Sometimes it takes drastic changes to yield better results.

Say what you will about Butler being inconsistent and injury prone but when he was on he flashed far brighter than both Dez and T-Will and this is only an indictment of both our #1&2, something has got to change, these guys are too comfortable....
Roster evaluation is a cornerstone of building a championship roster. It takes a cold hearted and brutally honest view of every single player on the roster regardless of how long they’ve been here and how good they have been in the past. It should be more about what they can do for us in the future. With that in mind, here are some cuts I would make:

1. Ty Crawford- highest paid defender and he’s probably not in our top 5 defenders list. I would make him a June 1 release, which would make his cap impact much less.
2. Orlando Scandrick- also overpaid, and hasn’t played a full season since 2013. In fact, in his 10 seasons with us, he’s missed a whopping 35 games. He was once our best defender, but being 31 and often injured is not a candidate to stay on this young roster.
3. Chaz Green- easiest cut of all. This former third round pick has played like an undrafted FA. He’s often injured, and has the CP label- Can’t play. Buh- bye.

Others I would consider cutting dependent upon finances-
4. Dez Bryant- since signing his big contract, he hasn’t played a full season and hast come close to performing up to his pay. A June 1 cut would cut his cap hit down from $16 mil to $4. HOWEVER- if he’s willing to take a big pay cut, he might be worth keeping just because our options at WR are not great.

The only one on the list that has real trade value is Dez.
You might could put scandrick in a trade package but not on his own at this point in his career. If he can be a depth player, fine. If not, then cut him.
Crawford - pay cut and keep another year.
Twill - understand the frustration but cutting him this year would be silly.
Witten - go to him and explain a reduced role and let him decide whether to return or retire.
Beasley - I love him but if plan is to move forward with Switzer, trade him to get some value.

This is what this team has been doing for years upon years...oh we are building a team for the long run...so they draft. injured players, try to be cute in trades and FA that never work out, not the injured drafted players.
We do not need cut or trade statements to the players. That does not really work anymore either.

I am not ragging on your thread, I am fine with this, but we know where it will lead too. Same posts that have dominated the entire off season so far. But the reasoning of taking a step back never going to get us anywhere. Need to move forward.
So to answer your post n players....

Green, Bell, looney are too obvious, they would possibly be replaced anyway.
So I will go with more starter type players.

Scandrick, this is so obvious, but I would not complain if he stays.
Witten, progress stopper at this point, or at least he needs less playing time. If the team is going to be set back, then to so by playing the young players.
Dak, again, if the team is going to be set back, do so with a franchise QB now. not wait to see if Dak improves or not. Then wait and go through 10 years of finding a QB. If one s there in the draft this year, draft him.

but this will still turn into a dump Dez thread as it seem from your post it is disguised to be one.

Your entire post was good up until the last sentence, that part was weak sauce. I’d consider keeping Dez if the medical staff could convince me he will have a bounce back year, otherwise I’m ready to move on from our top 3 WR/TE starters: Dez, Witten, and T-Will. So no, this isn’t just about Dez. And as others have already mentioned, there’s quite a few other guys that need to go as well...

trade....T. Williams. Just disappears for stretches far too often....then drops a crucial pass to break your heart.

trade Elliott...The guy is a walking time bomb...just like Joseph Randle. Just waiting for the next stupid move that will get him suspended.
besides...his shelf life as a power runner is about half over anyway. Get what you can now while he still has some value.

trade David Irving...they guy is going down the Greg Hardy path. The guy is talented...no doubt....but he sure isn't the RKG. All this BS w/ the women is gonna get him trouble. It's just a matter of time before it all blows up in his face.

Cut

Garrett
Linehan
Jones

A bunch of knuckleheads around here crying to cut 2 offensive starters with no solid plan to upgrade the positions.

Dez and Witten don’t get cut unless you have a replacement. Together that’s cutting 11 touchdowns from your team in a league where most games are decided by 3 points.

If you are the best guy at your position on the roster then you don’t get cut.

If you have 2 upgrades on the roster then let’s talk.

Don’t make me kick your stupid dog sunny...

I'll cut Crawford to see if I can clear money to sign Irving, Law and Martin but Witten and Dez nah. If they stink it up again I'll cosnider next year.

Dez has zero trade value. That won't help us any at all.

Cutting Dez and Witten and leaving two open roster spots are better than having them around.

This, you take a older WR, who is high price and not a great route runner and who has some drama forget it. Now I could live with A. Brown drama because he will produce week end and week out. Some things you live with, ask JJ who he would cut from the team and who he would not.

It's so unlikely to happen it's not even worth talking about.

I hear you. But You don't usually make cuts in Feb. The team won't be making their final offseason "cut" decisions until after the draft and free agency period.
