Cowboys were supposedly interested in Denicos Allen. Anyone have a read on Stills or Worthy? And I know that Sam Montgomery is an idiot but can this guy play at all??

Montgomery was supposedly off our board. Overrated as player and a known knucklehead.

Worthy is a pure run stuffer as a 3-4 DE. Not a fit here. Played a bit for PAck in 2012, couldn;t in 2013 then had looks by Pack and Pats on 2014 before the release.
Probably not much meat on that bone.

Stills like Worthy is a 3rd year guy and former 2nd round pick.. Much bigger guy and could be a Nose Tackle type.
Not as much a fan of grabbing those former high picks as I am of getting 5th-7th roudners teams try to sneak onto practice squads.

Interesting historical note is those 2 guys were picked within 10 spots of the pick we traded for Claiborne. The only other DL in that area was Kendall Reyes.
**Don't say this to justify Mo trade but do say it because the thought you draft DL regardless ignores how often they are picked over very early and thus each subsequent selection is a reach.

I'm sticking with Coleman, Bishop, and Lawrence in a projection from here forward...and the team already has Melton, McCain, Spencer, Selvie and Crawford. That looks like a rotation right there.

Ok, since no one has started a thread about him.....guess I will.

First, let me say that I have been neutral on the subject and I know about his desire or lack there of to play in the NFL, if he wants attention and/or a reality show, etc, etc. Putting aside all of the media attention for a moment, should the Cowboys go after this guy?

I have watched him in the pre-season and he seems really active and might be a gamer. Our DL is in disarray and this might be a perfect opportunity to take a chance on him. The Rams have a pretty deep DL and I did not expect him to make the final cut, but can he help in big D? IDK

If he has some chip on his shoulder and wants to show the world that he can play, it might just be a worthy gamble. I expect about 10 teams are pondering the same thought and may make a play on the guy.

There isn't a bigger stage than Dallas, so this could work out if they do try and sign him. His story would not last more than a few weeks before it reverts back to Romo, Jones and Garrett, he would just kind of blend in at some point.....may even be forgotten if/when Brent comes back.

Just spit-balling here, just wondering if he has the skill-set to take a risk on at this point considering our current circumstances. It would be a shame to ignore him if he turns out to be a decent player that teams passed on because of the potential controversy that could follow........

I'm all for it anyone who even shows moderate signs of pass rush skills. I'd take mazeils drama if he could sack a qb...

He looks like he can get to the qb, we desperately need someone who can get to the qb. Jerry's not exactly shy of media circuses, makes sense to me.

Why is it necessary for a discussion on Sam. He's more of a fit as an outside linebacker in a 3-4, but not really fast to be in line for a 4-3 defensive end. He wasn't seen as a fit for the Dallas defense from the beginning, and no, discussion isn't necessary because of the drama published all around the poor man. Even his own coach stated that the stance taken by the media was thrill driven and irresponsible. Why should we then keep up?

I actually didn't even think he'd be cut, must be nice to be the Rams D-Line coach, having that kind of surplus.

I'm all for it. Scheme be damned, if the guy can get after the QB, then sign him up.

If he can help the team, bring him in.

I'm not sure he can, but I'm not an NFL General Manager. Although it's not like Dallas has one anyway.

Supposedly we didn't really consider drafting him because he wasn't a scheme fit. However, after seeing him getting after the QB in the preseason? I'm not so sure he couldn't help on some level.

I bet he has quite a few teams interested though and probably won't end up here.

Imagine the threads (not counting the media circus), if he is signed. A special forum would have to be created just for him.

I am all for bringing in Michael Sams if he can get after the QB. He certainly did a good job of that in the preseason but that was against lower tier talent. Not sure if it will translate to the regular season. Still he looked no worse than what we are throwing out there now and, in some cases, far better than some of our d-line.

It's actually the other way around

But the thing is, at least in my opinion, we are not supposed to be able to do better. We are not the professionals. If we need to be content with a bad GM because 'we' cannot do any better, we're going to be a .500 team forever.

Whoever said "we need to be content with a bad GM"?

Where do some of you guys get this stuff from?

The point of the post you quoted was- there's no good reason for fans to get pissy with our FO for not drafting their pet cats, when those same cats were now just cut by the "real GMs" that did draft them only a few months ago.

MY ALL TAKE A LOOK LIST:
Devon Still from the Bengals(DT)

His child was diagnosed with cancer and that is his priority now, not football. I doubt he is interested in football at the moment.

OK... first... who are you talking about... Sam??? First, I have to say that I have a negative inclination to that lifestyle.. that's where it ends. When he first came out in the draft, I didn't think he had the speed, size, or power to play in the NFL. I'm still not sure he does in a permanent roll but after seeing his clips in a Rams uniform I think he at least has a shot to outseat what we are rolling out there on the right side. We will see.
