I, too, dislike Jethro intensely; however, I have to give credit where credit is due and change my mind when the situation calls for a re-assessment. Jerry seems to have turned a corner so far this off-season, starting with flushing the toilet at Valley Ranch and cutting ties with T.O. and letting tank and other deadwood walk as their contracts expired. My guess is that the 44-6 season ending debacle finally made Jerry think about what has been going on at VR the last few years and how last year came about.

I think this lunchpail work ethic draft, rather than his usual glitz and glamour guys, is a further sign that Jerry is wising up. Of course we won't know for sure for two or three years but I'm feeling more optimistic than I have in years about the direction this group appears to be taking and they might actually field a real team this season. Don't laugh, it could happen.
:hammer:
Read the Sig it has been there since it happened. TEAM first! And this draft backs it up.

Most of these guys don't get what positions our 3rd and fourth round picks are going to play.

I has shocked by the kicker at first, but it was a free pick. I remembered Folk's bad kickoffs.

I was not a big fan of taking another kicker. I understand where management is coming from, we need to improve SP. In my mind it is a wasted roster spot if you are carrying 2 kickers. Even with that said I would have felt much more comfortable about this pick if it was later in the draft. IMO there was better value on the board at other positions.

no way we keep two kickers on the 53.

You would be WRONG!!!!!

The chances of us not keeping 2 kickers is between slim and NONE. And is much closer to NONE.....

I haven't seen this kid kick before, but he must have (I hope) some serious leg strength.

If you have a kicker that can force a touchback most of the time you guarantee several things; the other team will be starting at the 20, there is no chance of a big return - changing momentum in a game, and you reduce the chance of ST injuries.

For a team that was haunted by special teams play last year, this isn't such an off the wall move.

we will carry 2 kickers IF this kid can boom it through the endzone consistently. But it has to be consistent length for it to happen.

No, I am not. I think both choices were ones I would not make. The point is other GMs do the same things he abuses Jerry Jones for. Bill Polian is one of the best GMs in NFL History. He lets his agenda override his common sense too often and I call him on it.
he drafted a punter not another kicker out of need. what he did actually made sense. t

his draft wasnt as bad as some experts are making it out to be but it couldve been way better with some of the available guys we passed on

Pick Analysis: McAfee was a talented punter at West Virginia who will help the Colts after they lost Hunter Smith in free agency. Smith ended up with the Washington Commanders, and his vacancy opens up a big opportunity for the former Mountaineers standout
