Guys:

I was watching Lawrence to see if he flashed at all. He seems very raw, has few pass rush moves (that he's shown anyway), and seems to fall a lot.

One encouraging sign, on one play the Washington runner (or receiver, don't remember which) broke out down the sideline (probably on screen play). and I watched Lawrence chase him. Lawrence did't catch him but his speed was impressive as he appeared to match the speed of the Washington runner.

Don't think he will do much this year, but with development he might make a player. He does have some good tools, (speed, long arms, etc).

When he was drafted the scouts claimed that he does have some moves and has shown the ability to transition between them on plays. Missing camp really slowed down his learning curve.

He has no pass rush moves at all..

He needs technique in a bad way..

We won't see him come alive in the playoffs and we may not see him come alive until late next season or even year 3.

The guy was too raw to use that many picks on. He's a true development player.

Had a couple of nice pass rushes against Washington, and should have had his first sack but RGIII got away.

Scouts were wrong.

He can develop technique though but it's going to take some time.

Injuries cost him his rookie season.

Hopefully a full offseason helps his development.

I saw good effort but it was a lot of 'dog chasing car' level stuff.

He's got work to do. I watched him a little bit at the end of the WAS game and thought he actually showed a little promise there. I was pleasantly surprised, anyway.

Good observation. I noticed him on that play also.

He did some good things in the Skins and Colts games. He would have had a couple of sacks if the DTs had drawn a double team. Against the Colts he cleanly beat the OT but the OG was free and was able to get back to cut him off.

One of the weakness that was said about him was he was on the ground a lot and had trouble getting thru the "trash". Hopefully with an of season he can improve.

just becareful drawing any conclusions this season. Rookies who miss alot of time and then are thrusted into playing action often look awkward. He also added bulk/muscle during his time away and might be adjusting to that.

Speed is good but I hope he develops burst. He needs to get a lot quicker off the LOS to be an effective player

What kind of player could you trade for that is already established in the NFL for a 2nd and 3rd round pick?

He basically lost his rookie season, so I wouldn't be too tough on him.
Maybe we'll get a leap in his second season like we saw in Tyron Crawford.

Not that it means anything at this point, but this was one of those draft moves that I wasn't a fan of.
Both a 2nd and 3rd rounder for him was steep, and there were some very good players to had in those slots. That's how I felt on draft day, and still do.
But that's water-under-the-bridge stuff....so just looking forward to him making our front office look good.

I saw that play too. I was thinking dang he's fast for a big guy. I think he will develop into what we want eventually.

His 40 time at the combine wasn't very impressive for a player his size but most felt he plays faster than he times.

He showed flashes, but he needs more work in the weight room, and a lot of work on using his hands. Working with Randy White on karate moves would be a big help to him in disengaging from offensive linemen.

While I have a great disdain for the trainers inability to keep players healthy and all of the hamstring injuries the team has had over the years. The one positive sign is that they have shown to me that they can greatly transform a player's body to produce a much more effective player if the player buys into what they are doing. Leary, Wilcox and Escobar look much different physically and are better players for it. The same goes with other players like Harris, Crawford, Murray, Scandrick and others over the years (we were good at this under Juraczek as well).

So the one hope I have is that during the offseason that Lawrence will buy into their training regimen and as long as his hamstrings are healthy, he can completely transform himself over the offseason.

Players, especially rookie DEs, tend to develop with each passing game. Being in the playoffs, the added experience just might do him a world of good. It should be intriguing to give him some more looks in the upcoming action. There's always a possibility the light might come on at some point. He's getting closer.

Let's hope he can improve with a real offseason and some playing time. For those lamenting the picks used, consider what the Texans spent on Clowney. In draft trade chart value, that's a lot of 2nd and 3rd round picks.
