Finding out by reading this thread that I must have been a paranoid Dad, .. even over 30 years ago.

Nobody ever watched either of my two boys except my Mother, my sister, and my Mother-in-law.

If we couldn't take our boys or leave them with family, .. we didn't go.

I can't imagine walking in on that. Pretty sure I would have grabbed his throat and never let go.

from what I read the kid is the one that convinced the Dad not to kill that POS.

I don't know how old you are but it's still that way. The boogeymen are around every corner and they all have male genitalia. Every body is so paranoid anymore you can't even let your kid play outside unsupervised in some neighborhoods without fear CPS is going to get called by your neighbor.

This relates to the lack of research put into understanding that sexual disorder in greater detail. Every criminologist in the world loves researching murder and serial killers comparatively. The taboo nature of the subject has left that field largely unfunded/untouched. The public wants to rid the problem but not invest any resources into doing so (outside of prison). Not before the act, just punishing the action.
