No, because I, and many others, have repeatedly stated that the throw deep down the sideline is one of Dak's strengths, just like rolling to his right and throwing on the run. He's made that throw multiple times very nicely.
It's between the numbers downfield when he has to throw in windows within zone defenses with accuracy that he struggles mightily to date. Teams can press the box and leave the middle deep covered with a single safety, and he hasn't yet demonstrated the ability to consistently deliver the ball in there.
They bracketed Beasley last year, and he couldn't make them pay. They loaded the box, and he still chose to dump the ball down.
But he can throw that quick strike down the sideline very nicely. Has since he got here.
Accuracy in 2017 on passes that travel further than 10 yards downfield between the hash mark and the numbers on either side of the field (seam passes, key to beating the popular cover 3, and it helps a lot to have a downfield threat at TE, which didn't exactly fit the description of Witten):
Dak 64.5%, 6th among full-time starters
I do agree they need to have more attempts deep though, but I think personnel also played a factor there.
