Dak comparisons

What's your argument?

Comparing a player with a negative TD to INT ratio to a player like Dak who has one of the best TD to INT ratios of all time seems........ well you can fill in the rest.

Vince had a QBR around 53, Dak almost double that at 95.5.

Let's hear your argument for how they're similiar.

They dont even play remotely similiar lol.
not I was being facetious since every black QB has been used so I threw it up against the wall..LOL im not trying to compare him to anyone really but for what its worth he still reminds me of Bortles...

22wins in 2yrs.
1 division title.
built to withstand the punishment.
better reads.
better arm.
better release.
smarter in decision making.
better NFL QB.
better leader.
Strangely enough Vince Young had a 31-19 “record” and also a division title, he’s actually one of the poster boys for the made up QB wins stat being fairly useless.
The rest of your “points” are basically pulled straight from your nether region with no factual basis... but I do agree that Dak has a better release. Vince had problematic mechanics.

I think people are holding resentment for Dak forcing Romo into retirement. Yes Dak makes extremely poor throws at times and other times, threads the needle. That will change over time due to his work ethic. This is a big year for Dak. Either he is going to shut up the haters or they will get louder.

I'm reserving judgment until 2018 is in the books but I want more than anything for this kid to remain the Cowboys QB going forward.

vince young...1st 2yrs....4,745yds,21TDs,30ints,17wins.

Dak 1st 2yrs...6,991yds,45TDs,17ints,22wins.

back to my original comparison of McNair....I said physicaly...the way he is built...reminds me of McNair.
Also their heart....leadership....thats who Dak reminds me of.
My opinion.
Won't change.

31wins,division title....over his entire career....not 2yrs in.

as for the rest...I could careless of your assessment of my "points" or where they came from.
Vince busted.....Dak hasn't.

2017

Prescott
9....TD-int differential
6.8. ypa
62.9 comp rate
86.6 QB rating
16 games

Taylor
10....TD-int. Differencial
6..7 ypa
62.3 comp rate
89.2 QB rating
15 games

That's what a I was thinking. Stats should line up pretty closely.

Who says Im not giving Dak time.
Im a fan and pulling for him in a big way

Just doing 2017 apples and apples comps.
His career is young
And Im fulling expecting 2018 to be better than last year

Hey, Taylor had better years than 2017 too
But im not sure he has the upside going forward that Dak has

I think that's pretty accurate. Dak is young and may have upside we haven't seen yet. Or maybe he caught lightening in a bottle in his rookie year that will never be attained again. We just don't know.

I'm just trying to get a handle on who he compares to so far to get an idea of what he is worth right now. I have compared hm to Alex Smith but I think Smith is currently a better QB than Prescott, which isn't a slight on Dak.

Tyrod Taylor is similar to Dak too in my opinion statistically and style of play. They make vastly different amounts of money and the perception is very different on both. I'm not sure which QB Dak is more like.

Dak is going to likely get paid. I don't think right now Prescott is worth top 5 money at all (although he may get it). I think Dak currently ranks below:

Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Rivers
Ryan
Stafford

He may be in the tier with:

Wentz

Carr
Alex Smith
Roethlisberger
Garoppolo
Or he may be a tier beneath that.

As a decision maker I think Dak may be superior. As a pure passer (ability) I think he is average.

Maybe not by some here, but I think most people put Roethlisberger ahead of Rivers, Ryan and Stafford...though the Rivers part would be debated in San Diego.

Can't think of a QB starting who looked good his rookie year and bad his second year with so much talent around him. People want to compare to Smith, the pinnacle of bus driving QBs. If anything Dak is resembling a less athletic RG3 without the injuries. And both have thrown teammates under the bus.

Steve McNair...1st 2yrs...1,766yds...9TDs...5ints...4-2 w/l record.

1st 2 full-seasons....5,893yds...29tds...23ints...16-16 record.

Dak 1st 2yrs...were also full seasons....6,991yds...45tds...22wins.

where Dak goes from here is up to him.

Alex Smith, like others have said.

He'll have stretches of games where he looks good/great, and then another stretch where he is passing for under 200 yards and can't get into the endzone.

Yes lets leave out his rookie season. That never happened. You know the record for most consecutive pass attempts to start a career without an interception which beat out Tom Brady. And the only player to throw less than 5 ints in his first 500 passing attempts. He also had this record, Dak reached 25 career touchdowns with the fewest interceptions (4) in NFL history. We all gave Romo time we need to do the same with Dak to see if anything is there. He has done enough at this point in his career to give him that chance. We had a guy for 10 years that couldn't get it done, lets hope it doesn't take 10 years to figure it out again.
Romo right out of the box was better than Dak and I agree that hopefully we don't have to wait 10 years to find out what Dak is. This year tells the story either way and you give him a nice contract or you find another QB.

Ask this fan, and the comparisons involving Dak Prescott will continually move up the food chain. Starting this season it will.

Dak friendly is a well known term that will grow among us, this season...

This is some of the change:

Without question, the Cowboys can’t solely rely on a rushing attack to do everything for them. The quarterback has plenty of room to grow and must improve his ball placement among other things after this past season. Still, the Cowboys have moved away from having a number one guy to coveting a stable of receivers that add different dimensions to their offense.

This isn’t to say that they don’t have any guys with potential to develop into the next star receiver. They’ve just made adjustments to the type of receiver they want to pair with Prescott. More than anything else, they’ve been hunting for receivers that create separation from the defender, making themselves reliable targets. Following the 2016 season, Dez Bryant was one of the worst receivers at creating separation:

“Dez Bryant averaged 1.85 yards of separation at target. He ranked 54th out of 55 receivers to see 50 or more targets out wide.”

Roethlisberger definitely used to be a top 5 QB and I have no quarrel with anyone who still views him as such. He has been a lot more sporadic (and probably less motivated) the past couple of years. He has played great at home and very poorly on the road at times. He has feasted on some teams statistically and laid eggs in some others. Nevertheless there is an argument to be made he is still a top tier QB.

Pretty sobering stuff. Of course people who are objective are not at all surprised by this.

He was huh. How good was romo is 2004 and 2005?
He was excellent at the white board and he was lighting up the scout team. Parcells was just a little more than conservative, hell he should have started as a rookie. It's Daks time and I hope he puts it all together as he's a really down to earth level headed kid that is far advanced in maturity for his years, but he cannot have another 2017.
