Dak decision making

I know the pass protection wasn't good, but almost every passing play Dak is taking time looking from his primary target the next to the next. It doesn't appear there is ever a quick read on what the defense is doing and where it will be vulnerable. That's especially important when the pass protection isn't holding up. Some I'm sure is the play calling, but as the QB and the guy standing facing the defense at the line of scrimmage, Dak has to make decisions based on what he sees. As a rookie his strength seemed to be not overthinking situations, and just taking what the defense gives. That doesn't seem to be the case now.

Dak had success his rookie year because the running game was having a great season, protection was ridiculously good and opposing teams weren’t prepared for him. Ever since teams have had tape on this dude, he’s gotten worse and worse.

Watching him pass is just sad. The guy doesn’t have a NFL arm.

Without a doubt the running game is a big help, but that doesn't specifically address the point of this thread. Dak was getting rid of the ball more quickly as a rookie, and he is holding the ball a lot longer now.

This is what happens when you have a young QB with a whole new receiving corps take preseason off. Garrett is braindead and Dak does not look good. He has 15 weeks to get it together. From the wr's to the o line to the rb and qb play they looked sluggish and not ready to play which is exactly what I predicted almost a month ago.

Was pretty much a consensus that no1 was really getting open. But he had a couple opportunities that he totally blew as well. They all looked bad.

He is probably holding the ball a lot longer because none of the receivers are getting separation.

That's obviously a possibility, and if that is true, then the new receiver's coach is failing miserably. It's really hard to know exactly where to place the blame.

I also think teams are taking the checkdown away. They apply pressure and they are taking those 5 yard patterns away, Dak has poor ball security in the pocket teams know if you pressure him he will fumble the ball which is actually better than INT.

His arm is average, but that's not the issue. The issue is that he's so afraid to make a mistake that he is constantly looking at the outlet receiver or the short slant. There's a reason why he only threw 4 interceptions in his rookie year (and two of those were tipped).

Quarterbacking in the NFL is a balance. You have to be willing to take chances. You could say Romo took too many chances, by the way.

I have no doubt that those deep balls are being called, Dak simply isn't throwing them. And until he does, Zeke is going to see 8 guys in the box.

I am beyond tired of this false narrative. If you're receiver is 1 on 1, he's open. Put the ball where he can get it. The truth is, he is not accurate enough to do it. I don't put all of yesterday on Dak, but he is more responsible than any WR on our roster.

Dak doesn’t have the arm to make deep throws, especially under any duress. His intermediate throws are only accurate half the time. You can’t win with that.

Sorry skaven, but that's not true. There were plenty of times yesterday were he DID NOT constantly look at the outlet receiver.....I know because I was yelling at the screen for him to throw it to him! Other times even the outlet receiver was covered like a blanket.....so you can't say he is always looking to throw the slant or to the outlet receiver. Guys just aren't open down the field and a lot of times he didn't have the time to wait on them to get open.....and worst even....when some of them were he throw it into the dirt.

I somewhat agree with you but that young QB looked the same yesterday as he did the last 8 or so games of last season as well. Can't blame those games on taking the preseason off.

Dak can't make NFL throws without a clean pocket off play action or zone read. The run game has to be working for him to do anything. He is not an NFL qb. Been saying it since day 1.

I absolutely do. The end of last season the o line was horrendous and the wr's were awful along with zeke just coming back. All last night the post game on nfl network talked about young qb's getting preseason off and they all looked bad. They should have been out there getting more reps.
