Why not? It's been a Greek tragedy for some time nowIt will be great comedy around here if and when Dak is extended!

37 million cap hit in 2025 if he’s not on the team. No way we eat that.Well, right now we have $23M in cap space next year - 22nd in the league
This time next year we will either extend him or decide we aren't resigning him
He’s led us to back to back 12-5 seasons, and our first playoff win on the road in 30 years. If you want to move on from him, then what’s your plan at QB that will keep the Cowboys winning and having a chance in the playoffs? Do you have a plan that’s sure to land the Cowboys a better QB than him? Apparently some of you think it’s going to be easy to find a better QB.If they extend him, it further proves they arent serious about winning
What do you think is gonna happen when it’s time to re-sign Parsons and Diggs? Or Lamb? From all the off-season moves so far I feel that a Dak extension is a long shot at best.
They have enough now for 1 move decent FA and the new Draft pool unless I missed something here.
Prove it (Please Finally) or lose it season coming up for Mr.Prescott.
Yeah because trading and winning 12 games show they aren’t serious. If they extend him, it further proves they arent serious about winning
This. In 3 inch bold headlines, lol.If they extend him, it further proves they arent serious about winning
None of that cap hit is salary, so not a penny of it goes away if we extend him or do anything else. We pay that either way and any extension is on top of those amounts. BUT,,,it would really be a lot worse than what you are saying because the bigger issue is his $59M cap hit next year that we likely do something with. The lunacy of restructuring to save cap $'s in year one is you totally blow up future years.37 million cap hit in 2025 if he’s not on the team. No way we eat that.
Yes. The cowboys are going to let Dak hit 60M against the cap next season
Lololol. Not a chance in hell. We are stuck. Accept it and move on.
Less than 0% chance he isn’t extended
I think you’re missing my point. My point is Dak will definitely be on the roster in 2025. He can throw more picks than TD’s next season and he’ll still be here. The financial implications of moving on are too steep.None of that cap hit is salary, so not a penny of it goes away if we extend him or do anything else. But, If we decide that we don't want him as our QB after 2024 we aren't going to give him $200M just avoid a $36M cap hit. How would that make any sense? We likely roll a lot of savings from this year into next year to help cover the 2024 cap hit and we would restructure everyone possible in 2025 to offset it. 100% a horrible situation but much better than giving him $200M IF (don't ignore the word "if" when reading this) we decide he isn't our QB any longer at that point.
They restructured him to lower his cap hit by over $20 million this year. But in doing so they increased his cap hit in 2024 by over $10 million. From all the off-season moves so far I feel that a Dak extension is a long shot at best.

Continue the futility.....Ok
Just what if
What if Dak declines further this season?
What do you do next year?
Live with it, sadly, because there's no escaping that contract in 2024 in a realistic manner.Ok
Just what if

What do you do next year?
Exactly. It’s not if he gets an extension. It’s when. With the way they restructured his deal, they have to extend him. We won’t have enough cap space next year to field a tesm.
Next off-season. If he sucks next year he’ll get a 1 year extension. If he’s good they probably give him a huge extension.Exactly. It’s not if he gets an extension. It’s when.
I'm not about to gloat over beating the most epically bad playoff team ever. He’s led us to back to back 12-5 seasons, and our first playoff win on the road in 30 years.
