You have to play the hand you are dealt.

During the 49ers 80s dynasty they had a weak division with only 4 teams and two were bad all the time and the Rams were only good briefly. They got a free division title and 6 wins pretty much every year. Their SB wins still count, though.
This. Football is the perfect symbiotic sport. Almost ALL greatness has situational advantages as well. Pats played in one of the weakest division for both their dynasties. 49ers played in a division in the 80s that was the Sad Sack Saints, Atlanta Falcons and Rams (to your point only the Rams did anything).

Peyton Manning dominated a division with Houston, Jacksonville and Tennessee (jeff fisher).
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers played in the NFCN which was the hapless and sometimes winless Lions, the Bears and Minnesota.
Dak Prescott is like 38-8 against an NFCE that, since 2016, comprised of the Snyder owned Washington teams, tail end of Eli Manning's giants and then scrubs and an Eagles team that has gone from Super Bowl winner to scrub and back.

Almost any "great" football stat is going to be against favorable conditions. Not a lot of success against buzz saws non stop.

Brady's conference/division while with New England...

Dookie.
Peyton Manning? Ray Lewis and the ravens?

If Dak parlays his stats into a single Super Bowl win, let alone 7, nobody will care who we played to get there.

Yes. Have been saying much of the year.

Does not mean we can't beat the good ones too.

Of course, not his fault, but the pass defenses we faced (on average) were flat-out awful.
I mean, when you have 5 games vs the 3 worst pass D's....hard to top that.

He did what good QBs should do...lit them up!

I don’t mind you being mad. It’s the “go follow another team” BED-WETTING that makes me lose respect for you Dak-Stans.

So, if someone doesn’t like Dak, they have to find another team? Is Dak = Cowboys? Give me a break…and spare me your 1950s fainting woman melodrama…put on your big boy pants and defend your “man”…but don’t tell people to “find another team”. What…so you can only be around people who love your “man”?

Grow a pair.
You never grew up. You're here constantly bashing Dak. That's not a fan of this team. You're a whining crybaby constantly throwing a tantrum, especially after you know very well Dak is not going anywhere. So, yes, absolutely go follow another team. Plus, You're the one who needs to grow up since you can't accept reality. Poor example display of how you were raised.

Dak destroying those defenses is part of why the ranks of those defenses are worst then expected. Similarly, Bryce Young and the Panthers being hot garbage are making those defenses look better than they actually are. I thought this was obvious. Its like when Washington fans brag about having a tougher schedule than Dallas. Well duh, you have to play Dallas twice, and Dallas has to play Washington twice.

Who will they blame when the 49ers beat Prescott for the 50th time?

We need some sort of Dak Prescott bingo...

- o line
- defense
- kicker
- The one dropped catch by a WR
- WR apparently ran the wrong route
- offensive scheme
- coaching
- weather
- because he did/didn't wear a glove
- not having home field advantage (ironically Prescott's fault due to his incompetent performances in the losses yet they fail to appreciate this minor point)...
one simple fact. Niners are a better team than cowboys. end of story. until we beat them. so until we beat them the narrative will continue. but first we have to get through the next two games

The Miami Dolphins, during their no loss season and winning the Super Bowl played the third easiest schedule in the history of the NFL during the entire Super Bowl era. That still stands.

When teams now days string wins together and start to get close to matching this feat, the talking heads mention the undefeated Dolphins at every turn, until the team vying to tie this record loses. Then they remark the former Dolphins can break out the champagne. Meaning they can celebrate their accomplishment that remains unrivaled.

You never hear about their schedule being one of the easiest ever, except tucked into threads like these on fan sites.

Why this DVOA makes a difference to anyone comes down to the Love/Hate relationship fans of the Cowboys have with Dak Prescott.

But were he to lead this team to a victory in the Super Bowl this year, or any subsequent year, the only people who will be denigrating and calling that win insignificant are fans on sites like this one.

Frankly, if I had the genie in a bottle and could get three wishes, one of them would be Dak faces 90 yards with one time out, down 4 points, with 1:01 left in both the NFCCG and Super Bowl, and he drives the team to wins in both. These drives become heralded in the same way Elway's drive was. Much like Godfather 1 and Godfather 2.

Surely I'd love the Super Bowl win. But to also witness his success get stuck in their craw of fans here that continually waste time demeaning this guy, when we are all supposed to be Cowboy fans. Not detractors of one player on the team, and secretly wishing for failure to support their warped agenda.

I'm not suggesting being a blind homer. But the belittlement of this one player, as if he got your sister knocked up and now won't take her calls, is ridiculous,

Brady beat Peyton Manning and Roethlisberger in the playoffs multiple times. Both of those guys will end up in the HOF, as did Warner (who Brady also beat). He also beat Mahomes more than once in postseason, and that dude has a good shot at making the HOF too.

Let's not pretend Brady wasn't a great QB.
I never said he wasn't but his soft schedule allowed him to play most of his playoff games at home instead of on the road. It's easier to beat the Ravens in Foxborough than in Baltimore.

Need to post the teams DVOA before Dak (or the others) played them for this to be at all relevant.

Why?

  • Dak's play against these teams affected their rankings.
  • Teams evolve / devolve as the season progresses
  • There could have been key injuries that affected the teams defense after Dak played them.

Yes. It did.

Sorry. Kyle Orton lost one. So 2 losses in playoff clinching scenarios. He carried them alright!
A lot farther than they would have gone without him, yes.
QBs are only one player, despite what many people seem to think.
You appear to be one of them that think QBs win/lose, and not the team. Sad.
