Dak in Perspective

some of the blame has to fall on Dak as he has regressed. I agree, that Beasley shouldn't be our top option, but Patriots run a similar offense with their slot WRs, but they do have down field threats like Gronk (yeah, really) and now Gordon.
I don't think Hurns gets cut, because butler is trash. if you are pinning your hopes on Butler, then we are in bigger trouble than y ou think. Deonte's game is his speed, so not sure why you say he is not fast, but I agree, he doesn't bring much to the table. Williams being our 2nd best WR, says a lot about the state of the WRs even in years past, than anything else.

and welcome to the NFL, every week is a challenge. I don't count beans, you just go out and play who is in front of you on the schedule.
I disagree that he has regressed. I see everything around him has regressed majorly...

I am not pinning hopes on anyone. I know we have a elite collection of JAGS but Hurns not performing and running his mouth will mean he is out of here, imo. Deonte has shown no speed at all. If you can point to a play that shows he still has speed, I am all ears. And I agree, Williams being our 2 is a sad, sad state.

Hello...i just want to point out areas that i don't think are getting enough attention. I see the typical tired posts like <200 yards or "he missed this pass" or "he's holding the ball too long" and just want to put some of this in perspective.

What we know:

  • The FRONT OFFICE failed this qb in getting him quality weapons in the passing game. When Cole Beasley is your best weapon, you have problems. Cole Beasley should be no higher than a 3rd option for any decent team. He is our only option. At that, he is an EXTREMELY limited option. He does not run down field and his route tree is either in cutting or out cutting. Hurns has been a fail. Slow, poor routes, poor attitude. He will be cut soon IMO when Butler is healthy and Noah Brown gets healthy. Deonte is not fast and brings nothing to the table. Williams, probably our 2nd best WR going into this season is now on IR and was hobbled before that. Gallup is our only hope in the passing game. Swaim has shown signs of life....
  • The Schedule has not done this qb any favors. He has faced 4 top 10 pass defenses in the first 6 games while two of them were #1 at the time he faced them with the popgun weapons. He will face his 5th top 10 pass defense this week against Washington. He also faced the Seahawks (#3) in Seattle when they were desperate! They just held Oakland on the Road to 3 points and the GREAT (according to the haters) Derrick Carr to 147 yards. BTW, the other two defenses Dak has faced were not exactly chopped meat either. Houston (#14) and Carolina (#16) were both on the road. They also had a front 7 that limited our run game and harassed Dak the whole time.
  • If you were comparing Dak Prescott and Tony Romo as so many like to do, next week would be the first game of Romo's career. Prescott has already won a division, a rookie of the year, made a pro bowl, thrown for 52 TDs, run for 13 more and has a career QB rating of 94! This isn't even including the 10 gaming winning drives and 6 4th quarter comebacks or the 19 games that he has had a qb rating over 100 (including 103 in the playoff game vs Green Bay).
I would ask the haters to relax. Enjoy the ride. This kid is developing before our eyes. When we add a few weapons in the pass game, he is going to explode. This i have no doubt about. In the meantime, he is still winning games and will continue to get better. Our defense is really good, our run game is really good. We will get there with one of the youngest teams in the league. This win yesterday will propel us to big things IMO.

Now "come at me bro" with the same tired, thoughtless Dak Sucks mantras...lol

It's interesting that you lament the use of passing yards (the sub 200 yard argument that you find invalid) to gauge Dak, but then turn around and use passing yards as a measure of a defense's pass D success.

I've grown tired of everyone trying to put Dak into perspective.

Dak gon Dak &, more often than not, that's going to net us a W.

Developing before our eyes...maybe, but I have two words for you:

Patrick Mahomes

He wasn't asked to do too much and the Jags didn't bracket Beas and take away the short pass. It was more a breakdown of their defense than some magical come to God moment for Dak. If he stinks it up against the Skins, who will play zone and bracket Beas, I hope you keep this same positive energy about him

It is interesting isn't it?

It is a fact that they are a stingy defenses and the defenses we have played do not give up yards through the air. There is a difference though. When you win a game 40-7 and your qb throws 2 tds and rushes for 80 yards, it is a non factor. When you run the ball in general for 150+ yards it is a non issue. When you lose at HOME and only get 3 points like Carr did yesterday against Seattle....that is woeful.

Patrick Mahomes
And what is it that you think you are saying with those words?

EXTREMELY TALENTED qb...not even remotely polished. Also has weapons on top of weapons and had his worst games against actual NFL defenses. Feasted against the subpar defenses he has faced.

Let's see how it plays out.

Who is challenging a defense out there BT?

You can't have it both ways. If we had legitimate threats that could challenge out there and he wasn't doing it, i would give you this point all day. We threaten no one.

Outside hashes doesn't mean deep balls. It's more timing routes on deep outs which should be a routine throw for most NFL QBs and WRs. All WRs can execute this since it's timing and passing accuracy.

It is humorous that you are agreeing with my point without even realizing it.

Yes....if they take the left and right cutting routes away from Bease...he is useless. Who is the next guy who threatens anyone with consistency in the pass game?

I know what it is...and I see him do it all the time. As much as any other qb does it in the league actually. The difference is his guys don't win.

I feel badly for anyone who takes your biased posts seriously. Then again, you may just be one of the best trolls on this forum and if so, bravo sir.

Ha.

Ya, i am a troll. I should just join the legions of intellects that bash our qb...go along to get along I suppose.. The new american way!

Beasley gets open and Dak found him a lot. Maybe if other guys could get open Dak would find them too. I mean Beasley clearly does when he's not being double teamed and Swaim does some too it seems like those are the only guys he hits regularly. Where's Hurns? I truly don't believe he gets open. Neither does Thompson and well Gallup's made some tough catches but we're slowly working him and Gathers in there.

this team and qb need to learn to be consistent from game to game week to week if they do that they will be really good and good things will happen

Add a #1 WR, #2 WR, and TE to team up with Beasley, Swaim, Rico, Zeke, and OL... and the offense will be more exciting to watch.

Add a couple of really good safeties and a LB to team up with LVE/Jaylon... and the defense will be more exciting to watch.

JG and other coaches stay in mindset they had yesterday of wanting to dominate their opponents... the Cowboys may have a chance to do something special

It's wrong to say Beas shouldn't be higher than 3 for anyone else.

It's wrong to say our receivers are trash when footage shows them getting open. I agree Hurns has been a letdown as it seems he cant locate the ball.

I was told by many on this team and fans they don't need #1s such as Witten or Dez.

What qb after 39 starts in the nfl that has questions has actually steadily progressed after that point? Stop bringing up Romo.

Dak has one solid half and the defenders are backing him up like we haven't seen plenty of trash just a couple weeks ago. How easily satisfied some of you are. I'm glad we won, as we should all be. I'm not happy about 4/9 32 yards, -10 yards from two sacks if you want to bring a ridiculous thread like this up.

Hillarious that you think this is a "ridiculous thread".

Wow.

Perhaps I should have just stated "under 200 yards", "Dak Sucks", "Not Accurate" and you would be in your happy place?

This is called actual facts....you should try it. No other team in the league is Cole Beasley higher than a #3. During his best season here, he was a #3 option in the pass game.

You need #1 WR and #2 WR with Beasley as the #3 WR... we will see that next week against the Commanders and moving forward... they will take Beasley away or try to...

Hurns and Thompson are useless... especially Hurns jogging on routes yesterday... I rather sit Hurns for Butler....

Gallup is still young and will take a couple more seasons to see what he becomes.

He's perfect for Dak though. Bease makes his living in the short middle which is the only place Dak can somewhat consistently throw.

Prime Michael Irvin on one side and prime Jerry Rice on the other and Bease out of the slot will still be Dak's favorite target. Just like he was in 2016 before defenses focused on taking that away. Something the Jags inexplicably failed to do yesterday.

As others have stated, yesterday was more about what the Jags defense failed to do to contain #11. Dak took advantage of it but it’s never been an issue when we are ahead. It’s big picture, when the team trails 14-3, do you trust Dak to throw us back into the game? I don’t. He is what he is. He’s a great athlete but only a solid QB(probably a first rate backup).
