Why does everybody think Dak was so conservative last week? Apart from the two TE screens, he pushed the ball downfield pretty much like he had all preseason. The only differences being he wasn't in advantageous downs/distances too much of the time.
And receivers dropped catchable balls.

I think this needs to happen sooner rather than later. I know it sounds crazy, but it just seems like he's taking the conservative throws so he doesn't throw an interception. I believe once he throws one, he'll start to sling it a bit more and take a little bit more chances.

I don't think anybody will be mad at the guy, we all expect rookies to throw a ton of interceptions. He's only played one game so I am anticipating some game changing interceptions to come, it's part of the growing pains. But I think an interception would help a lot more than it would hurt at this point.

I don't see how Dak throwing an interception will help his confidence, but I do believe the latter will. IMO, a rookie QB who just threw an INT would tend to be even MORE conservative, to prevent himself from doing so again.

He's going to go through his growing pains, as all rookies do, but Dak seems to have an aura about him that exudes confidence. He's gonna sling it with our without those INTs. Let's hope he matures through the process without them.

He should fumble too and get that out of the way.

I don't think a rookie throwing a pick loosens him up and enables him to sling it better. But, I am waiting for him to get one batted at the line and picked. Even though he has that Warren Moon release high up instead of past the ear, rookies have the tendency to focus more on the receiver instead of what's between him and the receiver. They have to get used to the increase in athleticism and speed on a NFL DL. And unfortunately for Dak, he practices against our DL.....one of the exceptions.

Errrrr............... he was #1 in yards per attempt in 2014 and 14th in 2013 and 9th in 2012. He doesn't really dink and dunk his way down the field relative to the rest of the league.

If we cannot run the ball effectively, the whole scheme falls apart. We need to assert our will there and the downfield stuff will open up.

Unfortunately, I can see that happening.
No need to force it this week. The Commander poor run defense will keep them off balance and Dez open much more. This will be a great game for the RB's. The offense should look real strong. The defense...mmmm..we shall see!

Oh you mean the stat that includes RAC? You see defenses have moved up against this offense and Tony won't have the success he enjoyed for a season. I mean seriously have you ever enjoyed watching Romo bombing the ball down the field?

No? Neither is anyone else

Yeah, that's why Romo has always had the reputation of being a gunslinger -- he's a dinker and dunker. LOL. Romo is one of the most aggressive QBs out there, he is always looking for the big play. But no, he doesn't wing it down the field every play, he waits for opportunities and he strikes.

He would have found Beasley with 40 seconds left and we'd all be talking about yet another Romo comeback.

But that's what I do love about Dak, I see courage in him. He is also looking down the field to attack, just didn't have many opportunities and yes, he is a rookie.

Way to jink him. He'll throw one Sunday because of this thread.

However, I disagree with the premise that he will be more lose after he throws one. If anything, he will be even more conservative. And we need him to be. We can't turn the ball over. He missed some throws with accuracy, but besides that he played a very solid game. Yes he didn't see Bease and Dez on the last drive, but that will come with experience.

An interception is obviously going to happen. It would happen if his name was Staubach, Montana, Elway, Brady, or whatever, and it's forgivable.
Let's just hope it's not of the backbreaking 4th quarter pick six variety.

Or one just before the half(when you should take a knee) so Washington can score.

With all of those high throws, Dak is lucky he didn't have several interceptions last Sunday.

Actually, we're saying he doesn't play well BECAUSE he doesn't throw any INTs. :)

Plus he didn't have a ton of time in the pocket to let the plays down field time to develop.

The NFL record for most NFL passes thrown before their first interception is 146. That record is held by Tom Brady.

"Conservative" throwing didn't seem to adversely effect his career. The opinion that "it needs to happen" to Dak is ludicrous.

Interceptions are just part of the game. Prescott will most certainly have his share.
